What is the right number of tournaments to play in a year...

Ive never played in a tournament, but you have made some good points there.

I'm a student. I myself cannot afford to play in tournaments. I probably could if i saved for a long time .As much as i love paintball i cant play as much as i would like to.

I can only afford to go to a walkon once a month at my local site with my mates. Even then im not paying much towards as my parents pay for my walkon most of the time. All the money i have got this year has gone towards paintball equipment and some playing (excluding parents money for walkon).

I really wish I could play more, and a lot of time when I do want to play im borrowing money from relatives/parents or taking things such as pocket money early. So i can understand where the students problems are coming from.

How many teams are in the UK, teams that do commit to a full series for the year?
How many tournaments are there and series?

There are a quite a lot of teams that have been at all of the 5 Man Masters events, ourselves included. There are others that maybe miss 1 or 2 and of course there are some that are quite sporadic in their attendance.

Not sure about the others as I've only ever played the Masters and certainly can't afford to commit to more than one series.

In fact, I dont think we've missed a 5man masters event since we formed in April 06.

i am 14 and i can just afford to go training twice a month and could afford a tourny it all depends what people are willing to do i meen i am selling my bass so i can aford traing with taking it out my own bank so i get more interest but it is depending on the player its all about compramizes and yea u made a valid point .i salve for any other money .and the kit thing is correct plus people see stuff they like (which tends to be expensive as everything is nowadays)but people should take it easy and not buy a gun cause its brand new and pros use it a gun is a gun as long as it shoots and looks nice who cares.

I know what you're saying, but wouldnt it annoy you more if at half the events you went to, there were half as many teams as there are now?

Not really as long as there were enough to fill a division id be happy.

It would piss me off more if i were to play an event and for some reason the divisions were locked and only 3 teams were able to play in that division

Wendy has done it in the past where it has been a slightly lower turn out than usual so has only used 2 divisions

Yeah, good point. I think if the organisers are flexible enough to change the tournament structure (ie divs) to suit the number of teams then that'd be cool. I just hate going to tournaments and having to play the same 3 or 4 teams over and over

Having locked divisions in the UK is a sheer joke.

But hey why should tournament organisers listen to us, we are only the customers after all

lol, yeah, but lets face it, its not like the Millennium Series pays much attention to its customers either...

Moreover, it seems like Russ actually IS listening to what players want. First of all he sets up the first formal Xball series at the PA, and he's the one asking how many events people want, also I think he's got another thread asking about fieldlayouts or something...

Perhaps the PA is the future of UK tournament paintball?

From my personal view.

I see it would make more sence to have a limted amount of leg's per tournament. E.g. 6 leg's at the most.
I can't see there being an advatage of have more than that per tournament.

Of course some people might think more leg's in one tournament, "great"
IMO teams need to sit down and talk about what they want to do, where they want to be at the end of the season.

Stuffing as many leg's as you can into a season is not going to help that team.
As russ said, there's not only the tournament's teams/you need to worry about.

If you enter a tournament with X amount of legs, you need to also look at the training side. Whats the point of playing Sh!te loads of leg's and getting it handed to you on a plate, becasue you have not had the cash to spend of training.

Teams need to focus, playing too many tournament's in one season will scare off younger players, due to the amount of cash that is needed.
All is well if you can afford to play everying, but you need to make sure all your team members can commit to that aswel.

Im not saying teams should stop playing 2,3 tournament's a year, far from it. Its up to the team's.

But spending more time training with your team, will see far greater results than compansating that with a lot more leg's per tournament.
