eat some food, get some sleep and if your tatooist will allow it....go for a couple of pints before you get it done:p:p
You'll bleed a bit more than normal:eek: but the session will go sweetly:)
(I did this and it got me through a three hour back session with no probs;))

Dude ...bad advice..

Alcohol thins the blood ..resulting in excess bleeding and the ink not setting properly you'll get an inferior black as a result (I can tell where i've gone in after a night on the piss) however the other advice is sound.

Coke is recommended though I believe (a yank habit at conventions)

Any tatooist worth there salt should refuse to work on you if he smells drink although if your a regular he'll probably let you off as it's your mistake.

If you wussed it straight think how queesy you may feel after a couple of beers ..dont do it the pain goes away (sorta) pretty quickly when the endorphins kick in I reckon your thinking about it too much , have a conversation or scour the walls for summat to read.

Bad Topchef ...go and sit in the corner.;)

never said it was the right thing to do, just what worked for me:D
Dskize is right in that it does thin your blood hence my 'you will bleed more than the norm' comment. Also most artists will deffo tell you to F off if ya come in stinking of beer, but I remember my first big tattoo hurting like hell (pain does go away once outline gets going) so I asked the guy if he would ,mind me going for a pint beforehand, he said it was cool so long as I didnt take the pi$$, *(naturally I had about four pints:p, bled like a virgins fanny sitting on a black mamba:eek: but felt little pain)

In my own personal experience the ink sat perfect and aside from the excessive amounts of tissue the dude had to use, there where no poor effects. What dskize says is indeed true though, beer and tatoos are not meant to be, but then again I cant see your local tatooist advising on a fluffy bag of columbias finest:) I was just saying what worked for me.
Bottom line I guess is that if you cant hack it in the chair then dont get one done;)
