can anyone go into the event, or do you have to be attached to a team? Would love to play this one as i live pretty close, but i dont have a team

Jeeeez you people are sensitive - I don't really see that I have offended anyone personally, as all my comments have been general (except for replying to Robbos personal slander - but that is a whole other story)
If you feel persoanlly offended, I can only surmise that the comments - although general - hit home with you personally? - And I have no problem appologising for that, as I was wholly unintentional (I don't really know who you are, so it would be difficult for me to BE personal)
Anyway, as you will maybe find, if you read what I posted closely, my comments are not directed specifically at UK paintball, but at paintball generally - the problems are universal - and the only reason it seems like a bigger problem in the UK I guess, is that UK paintball used to be sitting on top of European paintball.
BTW - seems weird you think I have said enough - only to then in the next sentence ask me to say more

Who would miss it? The UK paintball scene as a whole would miss the event and suffer the consquences. Many players currently in the game either discovered paintball at a Campaign Cup or have gained motivation to better themselves (or even just keep playing) at a Campaign Cup. The event showcases tournament paintball to the public. Perhaps not as well as it could, but how many players say that the public needs to know more about tournament paintball. Well wake up! Campaign Cup is the biggest vehicle we have in the UK for introducing our sport to the general public. What about the effect on support given to UK teams? Many of the businesses behind or connected to the Millennium are UK based. If its not worth putting a Millennium event on in the UK, then how long will it be before these businesses turn their backs on the UK tournament scene altogether?
That are a lot of reasons why the Campaign Cup would be missed in the UK and you should look past your own personal gripes and situation if you are going to so vocally contribute to discussions like these.
And I can gaurantee you that the NSPL, nor the Masters, nor any other event in the UK see's more UK tournament players in attendance (either playing or spectating) than the Campaign Cup.
Explain to me what consequences there would be? For all I may or may not like the millenium series, I will still be there as I was at Toulouse. I would have been in Germany but I was in Florida, and I would have been in Paris as well but there will be an addition to the family arriving in September.
I am in a slightly different situation in that I live in the only part of the Uk which doesn't have road access to tournaments. My point is, the rest of the uk can travel by land. How many teams are there currently competing in regional tournaments throught the year? And how many are making the trip to campaign? A very small percentage.
If the Campaign cup was such a big deal to UK paintball, surely it stands to reason that many more teams would be making the trip?? now that registration is closed and all the teams are registered, the evidence points to the fact that most UK teams don't place Campaign at the top of their priority list.
So I ask again, who will miss it? The minority.........
I am not out for any arguments with people, so don't read that far into what i say. there is no hidden agenda, no subterfuge. I only say it as I see it.
Now looking quickly, there are 40 odd teams from the UK playing across all divisions. More than half in M5. How many teams play regional tournaments across all divisions? and 40 of them have registered for Campaign.

Thats fair enough Syd. What if someone could replace that one prestigious tournament with something? A tournament of the same scale, but non millenium affiliated? Would that be better or worse?

As Nick said yes it is free to enter for spectators, in fact they are encouraged. There are also some special offers available to non Millennium ID Holders at some of the restaurants and clubs around the venue if you are staying overnight. The Millennium website has all of the details of the special rate hotels too if you need one.
There are some other posts on this forum that detail all of this.
