Referee's Required Nationwide

This idea is not new and has already taken shape in the form of the EUROREFs.

They marshal all the major events in Europe and the rest of the world. So why try to set up a new thing when we already have got "ProRefs"?

Ulrich Staehr is in charge of it and for the UK Jabba is point of contact. They train you up and certify you as Marshal after you past the test.

You get your expenses plus a day rate paid. Once again we try to do too many things with too many different people!

With the EuroRefs you already got an international body in place.

Dame just beat my reply baggy think you need to read the first post again as it references the UK tourney scene;)
Hiya dude,

I did but if you look at the concept and the idea of the EuroRefs they are more or less the same. All you will archive is to devide things again.

EuroRefs will have teams in each country reffing their domestic leagues and also international events.

By creating another body you will split it up and make things once again difficult as you will have two different standards etc.

Why can't people just sit down and talk to each other before rushing into things?

Hey Bagpuss looking at the response's on here No one seems to have heard of or aware of EuroRefs...

May be they need to up their profile and post on forums like this telling people what they have to offer for new or trainee refs..

I'm interested, beats morrisons chicken counter for a wage anyway ;)

out of interest, ( sorry if its the wrong place/thread/ feel free to pm me someone) what does a ref training day involve ? are there specific reffy drills, lectures or what ?

Pete
Of course there are drills, these have all been done by top refs
Drill 1 stand there and wave your finger in a circle pointing upwards
Drill2 Cross arms then fling then outwards in a horizontal direction
Drill 3 Step forward and get hit in the side of the head as some one has moved to the back left/right corner without you seeing and is now trying to kill his mirror
Drill 4 receive abuse from some excited idiot not even playing as the other team cheat against the team he loves and supports

I have done all 4 and that includes being both parties in drill 4 (sorry to all the refs I have abused over the years)

It sounds great, which ever organisation does it but there is only one thing that can help reffing....

More refs on field

10 players to 6/8 refs is always in the players advantage

If mills fields are being used next year would the reffing body for that series want us to use get trained by them

the euroref is the millennium refs. they have their own ref training day.
i guess the eurorefs could automatically be put onto this UK ref database without doing their training.

Or maybe organise with the millenniums and get the a euroref training day done over here. and get all the details for the UK based refs on a database to be used for the UK leagues.
will save people having to go to 2 training days to get certified by both organisations..
