In some ways I can agree with proto, if you have a lightweight gun you don't have to think about it so much allowing you to focus more on the game.

The same reason why people make sure they stay fit so they don't get shot on the break and want studded shoes to grip better.

Update: I had a go with Jonnys mini and it is nice, But I still think it balances strangely. I'll have a go on Sunday training but I'm not convinced
Cool topic. There are indeed trade offs. A lighter marker is easier to run with and bring up into firing position faster. But it is also more difficult to run and shoot accurately with. The more solid it is the less likely you are to bob it around as much with you when you run. Simple inertia physics as people pointed out. Clearly if its easier to move into firing position it would also be easier to inadvertently move when you are running and shooting.
But generally when you run and shoot you aren't running and trying to shoot a foot sticking out of a bunker across field. You are shooting a mostly exposed full size body, in which case the movements of the gun will certainly have some impact, but you can control for it. Now try to run and shoot with a gun like the mini and consistently hit a 1 litre bottle set up halfway down the field and you're lost.
More important than lightweight in my opinion is overall balance. Obviously there is a trade off at some point. You don't want to carry around a balanced brick...
