Masters Barrel bag rule.

Olly, i believe that its because marshalls are not allowed to check your marker for bounce, ramp or running hot if you have socked up. We had an incident on sunday where one of the marshals thought one of our guns was bouncing during the game, if we had socked up on entry to deadbox he would not have been allowed to check it! Or so i believe, best thing to do Olly is to contact J.C (James Conroy) or cityking (Jon Conroy) and ask them they will know the answer!!!
Could they not ask the corresponding player to remove the sock to check the marker, since the settings/velocity ect has not been changed by the addition of the sock could they not just remove it

Im just looking for a verbal fight mate see you tonight :D

That seems even sillier than the rule stopping you from socking up in the first place!

Soo...your not allowed to sock up your gat to make it safe. Then if you do, you lose a player or points. If a marshall then suspects that you have a cheater gun/bouncy gun he then wouldn't be allowed to remove the sock and check it? So technically if a marshall comes to check your gat just sock it up and your in the clear? That can't be right, it all seems rather ludicrous I tell ya!  :D :p

I got eliminated for socking up when we'd won the game!

team mate took the flag to opponents base - we're all done and finished & I socked up.... bloody marshall elliminated me for it!

I don't see any reasoning behind the rule - you'd think they would want you to make the marker safe at the earliest opportunity!

My point exactly

Note to self-set marker to 1 million bps then just sock it up at the end of a game and look smug :D

Its not the Marshals fault, they are following the rules as they are supposed to, and I guess if we read them then we wouldnt do it ;)

While I agree with Olly regarding the rule not making any sense, it was made clear that we couldn't sock up until the Ultimate told us in the captains meeting and on every field we played. So we were all warned that we'd be eliminated if we did it, whether the rule makes sense or not is a different matter.

No idea if every field would have enforced it or not as none of us socked up before being told to do so.

Thats is true Andy....and I believe we all tried to adhere to the rules but the question still has to be why?

I was almost eliminated on field 1 after the referee stood next to me said sock up and then the ultimate tried to eliminate me. Strictly, that should have been me gone but the ultimate reneged and let me live :p Phew!!

So in situations like that, the rules quite clearly state I should be out but the ultimate felt he couldn't or wouldn't go against one of his marshalls. Surely the simplest thing to do is eliminate the possibility of this by saying sock up when dead? If not for safety alone then to minimise confusion on the field

Reading this, the reason for not socking up when being checked as a live player is because you could be hiding a hit on the end of your barrel. The not being able to check for bounce/ramp cheat modes after a gun is socked is totally wrong. A chrono ref can check a gun, before or after a game(not during) but it should only ever be a chrono ref. You will even find the ultimate will ask the chrono ref to do it.

The socking of a gun after you have been eliminated, is to give a player less chance of playing with the buttons on a gun, if an eliminated player walks out putting his sock on, it gives him a chance to press a button with the movemnts he is taking, even though the ref wanted to check his gun, it just takes the refs view away from a hand on the grip frame to whatrever else the player is doing. If that makes sense. Havnt got much time so will probably try and rewrite this to make sense later on.

yes, but with the rules as they are now, players can just as easily "change modes", i dont think it matter's that with the motions of putting a sock, could possibly give them a chance to play with bottons.

i dont mind either way, you do what the rules say, simple as.
