Ah, the humble barrel bag/cover/condom/jimmy hat. Once a mere safety device it now has the power to destroy Millennium teams wholesale and even give some Masters teams a bit of a hard time.
I can see the sense in the rule that the barrel bag must be kept on the player's person as it is the only way of making the gun safe without turning it off and messing up all those carefully programmed cheat modes, but I'd love someone to explain the reasoning behind the rule that we aren't allowed to sock up after being shot or in the dead box. Don't get me wrong. I'm not whinging or having a go at anyone, and we've never been penalised over this but I don't understand the rationale behind this rule and need it explained to me.
I came into paintball from shooting real guns, and in the world of firearms the key rule is to make the weapon safe whenever you aren't shooting it, as this reduces the chances of shooting yourself in the parts. By the same light I always felt the sensible thing to do on getting eliminated was to sock up as it shows very clearly that I'm out, and reduces the chances of shooting any eliminated teammates. I can see with electronic trickery that turning gun off is a big no-no, but can someone explain to me the reasoning behind not being allowed to sock up until everyone has been checked? I would have thought anything that makes things safer on field would be a good idea
