It's not ridiculous, it's a happy by-product of being in the European Union.
It's great, makes drug smuggling sooooooo much easier.

Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands (not sure why I bothered really) Finland. I'm trying to complete the whole set :)

didnt think this was worthy of a thread to its self....

does the reg have to be taken off the bottle or is that only when you fly?????

cheers
Probely only when your flying because of air pressure but dont quote me on that :p
Although you may need to open it for official to see into as Lovetone said.

yeah would be wise not to quote you on anything pal
aside from the air pressure, the reason is that even unpressurized, officials will want to be able to see inside the tank for smuggled cocaine et al.

On the question of the f stamp, this shows the federal German police that it isn't a fire arm. Basically anything capable of firing a round/projectile that hasn't got a stamp is treated just like an unlicensed firearm and the police are entitled to use the full force of the law (marker confiscated and a big fine I think). Ferries and the euro tunnel are usually cool with taking marker across and no need to remove the reg as long as the tank is depressurized. Taken my kit back and forth numerous times as I've just moved back from Germany. Does help to have PGI or the like on top so Customs know what it is if you are pulled

Hope this helps.
