Spec Ops Paint

Hi,
I saw a post on a different forum that made me think. I think its such a good post that everyone should see that paintball could be in danger of extinction if we are not careful.!!

There is obviously a safety issue with spec ops paint that all sites and gouverning bodies have a responsablity to look into it.
when paint is breaking a lense on someones gogs thats a serious issue that shouldnt be laughed off by anyone. lets face it its only gonna take one accident and that will set paintball back years the HSE will be crawling all over paintball like a bad rash not to mention every site.which will up the price off paintball or worse finnish it.
Its not just the sites and governing bodies that have a responsabilty though , as players we should be responsable and not use products that are likely to hurt fellow ballers.
In Australia you need a fire arms certifiacate to have a paintball gun do we really want it to come to that in this country because if it does then so many people will be restricted from paintball .
and in this country a F.A.C is so easy to lose eg speeding ticket , section 5 public order etc you get the picture.
Lets protect the sport we love by using ONLY products we know to be safe.

In case you didn't know...

JT lenses are made out of lexan which is the same material aircraft windows are made out of. JT also test their lenses by firing .68cal metal ball bearings at 500fps at them.

Right, basically what I am saying is that Spec Ops paint although quite hard, couldn't take a 747 out of the sky if it was being fired from hot A5.

might not break a lense, but if its breaking hoppers, what it would do to someone's throat? i agree, Spec Opps paint should not be used in Sup air, it should remain in the woods where it was designed for.

People don't have throats in the woods.

would i be correct in also saying that there have been tests done, where a shotgun (1,200 fps i think:confused:?!) was fired at masks, and although the plastic was blown away understandably, the lense remained relatively intact, in relation to the force exerted upon it...

or is this some drivel i have picked up??? :)

cant have looked after it - they have probably mistreated their lense, and given it too much abuse without replacing it - the spec ops was just the nail in the coffin perhaps?

just throwing ideas up - but the paint should still be banned
