It wasn't a snake it was a zipper and with the barricades i have it was the best we could do.....

If anyone wants to lend me some barricades to make a good zipper then cool.

See you all at the weekend.

x
Watch out or you'll get scores of paintball fields missing their snake bunkers (you know how pikey paintballers are) ;)

The sausage bunkers really are essential for a good 7man field pleeeeeaaassseeeeeeee get some wendy!

surely the profits will run to some new bunkers

fwiw, id maybe play the masters more, or be interested in doing so, if the fields were "better" for want of a more apt description.

please take that in the spirit it is intended - i.e. constructive criticism.

Understood....

I have just purchased a 2nd Hand Raven Millenium field which we will be using this weekend.

We do not know exactly what barricades we have which is why we havent been able to produce a field design.

The field designs for the 5 man were on baller in advance of the event and nobody raised any criticism then. Truly your advice is taken on board especially when it comes to field designs but we will never be able to please everyone.

:) :) :)

In the same vein of friendly, constructive criticism; the main complaint the people i've spoken to have about the field designs is the lack of bunkers, it can make for pretty static gameplay when there's large lanes and no realistic moves from your primary/secondary. Obviously you cant just snap your fingers and make more bunkers appear out of thin air lol, just perhaps something to think about for the long term :)

For all those criticizing the field designs i suggest you get your collective asses down on a saturday and help out with the fields. The people of the Masters are doing the best they can with what they have and for those who'd say they would play the Masters more if the fields were better!!! You wont be missed then cos there are plenty of other teams and players who will turn up no matter what the fields are like.
Why should all the fields be a set way make use of what youve got and learn to adapt your game to suit after all whats a better way of training for the major events than doing the masters Fat ladys charms are after all ;)

Keep up the good work Wendy see you on sunday!!

Way to be an arsehole, my friend.
So, you pay to play an event and are expected to set the fields up too?
Well, where I'm from I don't tend to pay twice for something if you follow me.

Anyone who says "adapt to what there is" - well thats fine, but I think in order to help players progress, the fields should at least be a semblence of the "accepted norm" - ie those used at Millenium events for example.

Its kinda like learning how to skatebaord on a flat surface, the coming to a bigger event and realising "oh no, now there is rails and ramps and half pipes".
As for saying I wont be missed, that doesnt matter to me really and I'll take it as a knee-jerk, ass-kiss the masters reaction.

For the sake of opening a can of worms (again) I know a lot of people who follow the masters religiously, and there is ALWAYS a back patting/ass kissing affair on the forums after a Masters event when I know in reality a lot of people arent exactly over-awed with the set-up, scheduling and divisional play - ie being able to win a division without playing everyone, and fields not running to time.

Turning up "no matter what the fields are like" just goes to show the ignorance of a lot of people to progressing their game.

Other events have shown this can be done and I think for the cost people pay out they should expect more.

Nothing I have said should be construed as anything but constructive criticism.

Before this turns into a testosterone fueled slagging match and nothing positive coming out of it, take a deep breath and count to ten backwards. Works for me;)

I can see both your points of view, but lean more towards Lovetone's views over WKD's, which seems to be more of a defensive standpoint to little ol me. WKD, after reading your past threads/posts etc, it seems to me that you have been in the game for long enough to understand where Lovetone is coming from.
I have expressed my views to Wendy on another thread and via email regards the field designs in the past few weeks, her response was a positive one. If no one raises concerns, how are the organisers supposed to know and move forward with their buisness?

IMO, for the record; I believe that more Props/bunkers on a field will promote more movement leading to faster game times and turnarounds.

Anyone is always welcome to come over and have a chat.

Will ignore the first comment doesnt deserve an answer TBH sticks and stones blah! Blah! blah!

Firstly i wasnt saying put the fields up yourself i was saying if you can do any better then do it. Or put some input in on the saturday when the fields are put up instead of coming on here and moaning about it just a few days before the next event. Or better still get intouch with Wendy and offer to design fields for her with the bunkers she has available after all you cant make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.

If the fields are to be of the expected norm then fine but the cost of purchasing a millenium sized field with bunkers aint cheap and with the Masters being in its infancy you sure as hell dont run before you can walk and buy new fields straight away its a natural progression as you of all people should well know!! Wendy has already stated that she has bought one millenium field already and im sure will buy others in the future.

Im sure Wendy will address that though i do know that time is a factor this early in the year and with the days getting longer then you will play everyone in the same division eventually. As for the ass kissing well it may well just be that people did really enjoy their day at the Masters and want to have there say like yourself about the negative side of things !! Open forum after all :D

you missed the point of the first part which is you PAY to play an event; ergo, the designs should be done for you and of high quality.
paintball costs a lot to play and you should get good service for that premium. nuff said !

masters in its infanct? erm, no.
its been around a fair bit of time.
this isnt something brand new for 2007.

you also missed the point of the ass kissing as i call it - cos like i say i know a fair bunch of it is in fact hypocritical. im not talking about the others that genuinely had a top day - maybe cos they dont know much different?! im talking about the people who go, play, talk how great it is/was on here, then complain in reality. they need to be open and move the series forward. it might not happen right away but the seeds are being sewn...i hope (!)

thew point im making about the fields - no they DONT need to be full size millenium etc but you need, i think, the features of these fields, not least a decent zipper/snake if english ballers are to have a chance of stepping up to the next level ie internaltional events whereby these are standard features of a field. you need to be able to play these to compete.
i think that progressing like you say will help everyone not least the maters series to get a great reputation. there are things that need to be adressed and hopefully all im doing is not hidiing away. id rather say it , and be seen as a "d1ck" by a couple of people that cant see the bigger picture, than play and come away unsatisfied and remain silent.

peace out.
