Well, hopefully they'll do the leg work as I said. If they don't, it'll be a wasted opportunity. If they do, then great, but don't have a go if it provides little result. You can't force the public to be interested in tourney paintball.

But what about the sport itself - the promoting of it? That´s what I´m personally most interested in - is there a lot of locals passing by this venue on a daily basis, with the possibility of them actually catching a "sight" of our sport???
Totally agree with what your saying.

Was just 'defending' the local 'area', as so to speak, from the Basildon Bashers....:D

Not sure about lots of passing locals. The music festival should pull in plenty of bodies. There is a large retail park almost directly opposite the venue. If the signage is right, then maybe they'll pull some more people from this. Signage and awareness are the key. People have to WANT to come take a look.... Just a sign with 'Campaign Cup 2007' and an arrow won't be good enough. Local radio will play a good part. The local station have Black Thunders (girlies in black jeeps, called 'Black Thunders') that attend local events and do a short live broadcast. The MS should have thought of this already (local radio).

They had signs in birmingham. Great big massive signs. Then they put the event in a car park in a different dimension so noone could find it......

Update time...

Yes there is a 2 day festival on at the time which has been known as The Basildon Festival. This has typically been local bands and a couple of older named acts, 60 & 70's era - so it's not a V type gig but it does give us the opportunities mentioned by others.

This event runs on the Saturday & Sunday and attracts around 30,000 people. The two events will be managed seperately but the boundaries are situated very close to eachother and they are being run in conjunction with each other. It would be nice if we can get the Festival public to access through our venue - we'll have to wait & see if that is possible.

Basildon Council are looking to raise the profile of the festival and they believe that we are the kind of thing they are looking for to do this.
Before anyone asks - The Acts have not been named but there will apparently be some German Rock bands from the town that is twinned with Basildon. Someone also suggested that I do a hypno show

As far as advertising well, Local Radio, Roundabouts, Banners and Town centres are planned as well as the local leisure hangouts - hopefully playing video snippets etc for the month prior. I have been asked to assist with this because of my media links and local knowledge. I will cane it don't you worry about that.
