I think the MS really needs to launch some sort of charm offensive or at least seek to counter some of the views being expressed here about the (un)suitability of Basildon for such a major event.

I would at least be interested in why they concluded that this was an appropriate location to bring many hundreds of people to, given the damning indictments offered by many who are familiar with the area.

It's some months away and I am already a little concerned about our attendance.

Let's hope the decision wasn't just about cost.

I really can't see what your all on about...

I've lived in and around Basildon for many years without too much of a problem.

Your always going to have low life scum pulling down the local areas. Even in posh, expensive places the scum travel in to cause agro.

There's nothing wrong with the venue..... period....

I've had many an awesome weekend over at festival leisure park in the clubs and bars without ANY agro at all.

All this crap about the M25 and surrounding routes is bollox as well... Yes it has it's moments, like most MAJOR roads in the country.

Get over it......

So it´s a good venue for the players seeing there´s pubs and bars and restaurants and a couple of motels nearby.... Ooookay....

But what about the sport itself - the promoting of it? That´s what I´m personally most interested in - is there a lot of locals passing by this venue on a daily basis, with the possibility of them actually catching a "sight" of our sport???

Word is there's a music festival thingy at the venue on the same weekend and that the local council are very interested in helping the Millennium promote the event locally. So as long as the leg work is done, it sounds good.

You and I both know that is just total nonsense - can´t use hunky and british in the same sentence.... UTOPIA!

Anyway - a music festival - that should be a brilliant opportunity to get some non-paintball-related public.... BUT that also means the Millennium board will have to make an effort "telling" these people about a paintball tournament nearby! :)

EDIT: Just saw Syds reply - which sounds REALLY promising then!!!!!
