really? i thought it was just the reg that could'nt withstand high pressures, but any bottle could withstand up to 5000psi.

but thanks for telling me, i owe you one.

no, its a combination of both the reg and bottle that give you the max fill.

3000psi tank + 4500psi reg= MAX fill of 3000psi (even if the reg can take 4500psi) putting a 4500 psi reg on a 3000psi tank is really not advisable, because it makes over filling VERY possible (Unless your source only fill's to 3000psi)

4500/5000psi tank + 3000psi reg= MAX fill of 3000 psithis is not as bad, because the bottle will not blow, the reg will pop a burst disk if you over fill it, therefore dumping the air, and not blowing up the tank.

the best advice would be to keep them in correct pairs, i.e.
4500 psi tank + 4500 psi reg
3000 psi tank + 3000 psi reg.

any other qeastions just ask on here.

sorry for the big red writing, it had to be done

well, james has over-covered the first question there :)

so ill take on the second one...

yes you can if you want to. the argument for doing so is that with small amounts of pressure in there, if you try to unscrew it, you could unscrew bottle from reg.

the argument for not doing so, is ease of removal for travelling on air planes, or if you should choose to switch reg.

removal of a loctited reg can sometimes cause damage to the reg and thread of the bottle, as well as the gauge... etc, if you are too heavy handed.

hope that helps matey :)

maybe i missed something but something tells me you should never fill a 3K bottle to 4.5K.....

well, unless you want to kill someone (probably the person next to you)

pretty certain that the person themself would get injured too - seeing as he is holding the bottle getting filled - at least he had the common sense to ask.

yep your right. i was wrong in thinking that the reg decides what pressure you can fill it up.

thanks fish for answering the loctite question, c ya at training:)

usually when people do stupid stuff like this, its not them that gets it. its someone else.

and your right about the last part - at least he did ask (and get shouted at). better than killing someone
