Why is it always the nicest people currently organising huge parties that get their **** stolen? The sad thing is the little prick who did the deed now has a marker they will probably never use, sell or even show to anyone connected with the sport, so nice going goober, may the universe give you all that you deserve.
There was security at Campaign a few years ago that was laughable. The massive security guys were found 50m away at one point, watching some guy race a radio controlled car around a little course. Or if they were at the entrance, they were head down and texting. You could walk right by them.
At the PA you have to have a tag on your wrist, and, to get out of the tournie with any kit, you must show the pass. Is this the silliest thing ever or what?
If you are a paintballer, who wants a new gun, all you would have to do is take the desired marker, and show your pass to the marshal as you take it away.

the p.a. has it flaws in security , but you would at least track it to paintballers , not a common crim.
but like raffles says it starts with each player, but some assitance from organisers would may be go a little to protect the players(im not sure what , but if we can generate some discussion, may be we can stop these Thieving Mother F$*kers, from getting away with it.
because at the moment we are getting a rep for being an easy target, first tourny of the season and first marker gone, how many more?????
may be larger staging areas so the sardine effect is not assiting these theifs, may be lights for and if it over runs so we can see if some one is walking off with our kit(these are very simple yet inexpensive ideas that a organiser could do).

Be honest security at an event is slightly dumb (bar car park security at crystal palace wouldnt go a miss).
Tourneys like the masters is as many have said an open tourney, anyone could come onto the field and have a watch nosey about the players tent and stores that are readily available.
The only way you could have any form of security was if it werent in a marquee which as many would say be a bit of an annoyance as then teams would have to A have a tent or B stage in their car (which aint easy).
Maybe its time for teams to purchase a bit of a gazebo or tent each to stage from ... your gear your area easy as that

Little detection devices which fit inside your marker, then a website or something whch tracks it. Seem to remember something like this being mentioned a while back but it died down good idea if you ask me.

in any case and back on topic.
at the end of the day why are we expecting the tournament organiser whoever it may be to incur extra cost for our lax attitude.
yeah there are instances where no one is at a table. but use your own common sence and impliment your own security measures the way you deem fit.
and don't leave anything on show or valuable about! simple!
take some responsibility for your own kit. and if somone borrows something you make sure it gets given to you in hand! like most high value objects!
