I'm far from the most experienced person in paintball, but my opinion for what it's worth is:
What paintball really needs to advance as a sport, in the UK and any other country is an international governing body that all leagues look to.
Untill we are all using the same rules and the same format i don't see how paintball can advance past where it is now.
To put this into context:
Take Football (Soccer) as an example. Football is played in most countries around the world from lowly village sides right up to national sides representing their country at the world cup.
The thing all these teams have in common is they all play the same format game, with the same rules decided by an International body (FIFA). If all the football leagues around the world used different formats and rules etc, would it be where it is today? No chance.
Untill paintball has this i don't see how having a National league in the UK will have that much effect. I'm not suggesting Paintball could ever be as big as football, but it could be much bigger than it is now.
I heard talk awhile ago about paintball at the olympics. Frankly i don't see how this could even be remotely feasible given the current situation.
As i have stated i'm not that experienced but this is how i see things. Feel free to point out the error of my ways. I'm here to learn.

^^Beanbag, this thread was never about advancing the status of paintball as a sport. If it were then yes, this domestic UK league wont help achieve such a goal.

Well Pete as usual your reply is direct to say the least and although I did bring the Millenniums into the discussion I was not meaning to imply they made a profit from the entry fees, (but they do overall) what I wanted to demonstrate is they have cost the players a fortune over the last few years and what have they done with that income, how much promotion for paintball as a whole do you think they have achieved.
We had a meeting a few years ago with Niall and Barry at our PR Company in Leeds and the talk was about a possible collusion with the PA and the Millennium series (we was only interested in the British leg to be honest) but with the main talk being what they could get out of it when we was only talking about some promotion ideas so because of that it never realised into anything and we decided to take the slower but we hope more controlled approach.
Don’t get me wrong I have a lot of respect for Niall and Barry as individuals but the Millenniums! I don’t buy that they have done anything for paintball except provide a selling ground at a high price for sellers,(that has a place but what they do and what they say they do….) and I believe that if we could get 10 percent of that revenue we would do something far more constructive with it.
As for not knocking the MS when necessary, well that’s easy to answer, I would end up getting banned because I could complain everyday about what they do, but the truth is they just do things different than I would like them too, and I would just look like a fool who suffered from a bout of jealously on a regular basis.
What the Millennium provides is very important to European ball…. For the moment
My interest in the Millenniums is primarily the reffing side but there will be no change in that respect until Ulrich develops the ability to listen to genuine concerns or is replaced by someone who can.
As for being in this for the money, the UK Masters has that sown up in the UK so well done Wendy and she is the only one who will do so I think for the next few years, as for the PA, well there is a little fact that most people are not aware of – the PA is not under Sports Council criteria allowed to run events to make a profit.
If every penny is not accounted for we will not be able to get sports status but it would be great if we did not have to put our own cash in, the most I have ever took from the PA was £100 for expense after I had spent two days doing the set-up with another person who works for me who was still getting paid from me, at the last event this year we had to put another few grand in to pay the bills, not martyrdom I intend to get it back, just a determination to do what we set out to do.
As far as Ledz being our only supporter, well not true but he is a massive help and I think it is because he has listened to me going on about what we think may happen if we do things our way and he believes me– IT JUST MAY WORK and if it does Pete everyone would benefit, it would take time but we all would benefit in the end, the player base would be nurtured from many sources and as we see it that is the main thing we have to achieve because it would be like water to a flower garden and at the moment it is just a constant drip.
IE; we have at the moment a DVD in production that will show paintball at all levels available in the UK and a little bit of some high level stuff in the states, that dvd will be sent to all senior schools and youth clubs area by area it wont cost a great deal we believe less than ten grand but we can not even get site owners to help with postage unless they are the only ones advertised on the thing for the schools to get in touch with if they fancy a try.
So again we will do it ourselves unless some one with vision wants to get in touch

Russ before you no doubt post back with a litany of expenses incurred whilst running the show, let me say this much :-
There's Hans Christian Andersen, there's the Grimm Brothers fairy tales and there's Aesop's fables but none of these purveyors of fiction match the unadulterated heights of a tourney promoter declaring his expenses to explain him not making any money .... I have listened to the master Russ, none other than Jerry Braun, the dark prince of tourney promoters who would have had us all believe he ran a charity called the World Cup that cost him millions ... I publicly dispelled that load of bollocks and he had to climb down from that dollop of fiction masquerading as a balance sheet.
If you wanna print up a balance sheet, then fine, good luck to ya but I am afraid I won't believe a word of it unless I get an accountants report stuffed thru my door
