Russ, seriously - only your event (so far, Milleniums and others have yet to issue a press release) has said that their insurers are getting worried. Your probably going to play xball.

The simplest and most cost effective solution for yourselves, HPAC and the players is to only supply air rated at 3000psi.

Why give an option?

I also wonder - out of all the people who have posted here, who actually plays the PA or is intending to next year.

Just saw this on PA forums - i know its not set in stone, but ouch. Really ouch.

'Stocks will be available from February and I think (still working on this) H-pac will be carrying a supply and offering a fitting service at all there events in 2007, cost is to be confirmed but I expect it to be around the £20.00 mark.'

For a fill nipple thats a lot of money. Especially considering the milleniums and yourselves are doing this. Someone's making hella money...

still curious as to why you cant hire someone to check tanks

it means the money output is on your part

rather on hundreds of players parts...

And if we did that there would still be a chance the wrong bottle would get the wrong fill...
And the money would not be from me would it, I would just put up the entry fee, and make some extra profit for my trouble.
You dont have to pay anything out as far as the PA is bothered, to protect ourselves we would just offer 3000 fills, Hpac I suspect would only offer 4500 fills only if a new nipple was fitted, the others would have to make up there own mind, or you could play none insured events, your choice.
As far as my kick back goes for sorting this out........
FFS I am trying to help you keep 4500 fills............. why do I bother.

I know its not set in stone yet, but should the PA definately go with Xball next year, then you's are all well wrong...

Its amazingly clear just how few of you have actually played xball...

there is no communal air fill station, there is one rig in each teams pit area at each end of the field, hell, if we all had to go queue up for air at the other end of the site between points then we'd all be well and truly ****ed wouldnt we? jeez..

so that pretty much rocket launches your 'put a guy at the rig to check everything' arguement.. i mean, even if you put a guy on each rig in each pit, the poor ******* would get KO'd every match.. Xball turnarounds are frantic, even when you're only playing lite or whatever other incarnation your playing... you dont have time to 'just slide your bottle cover off and show me your test date please son..' its way too manic a situation...

anyone thought of cutting 3k fills? no? i mean, by the time you've paid your £20 (ouch... my wallet) for your super duper 'i cant buy one of these and slyly put it on my 3k bottle anyway' fill nipples and then burred it down, taken it off to play at another site, put it back on, had to buy another one la la la, i could have bought the only poor kid with a 3k bottle at the event his own 4500 system..

thoughts?

Chris,

Most other organisers will be in the know or soon will be, the insurance companies talk to the UKPSF who tell you things when you inquire;)
And this has been a worry for quite a while and things need to change soon before they are changed for us.
As far as the price goes it could be a fiver! I have no idea, I just knew that price would be on the top side and they charged thirty quid for a no cost software update so I suspect as you do some one wil make a few bob, it wont be me...... unless I can sort something out quick.....;)

you know bud ,maybe you should wait till you've attended more than one tournament before you start throwing round comments like that , how often have you actually played the UK domestic leauges ? infact any leagues other than Alexandria walk-ons and have you ever been anywhere near the PA? this wordly wise paintballer stuff is getting a bit tiresome eh..;)

OH and BTW the last person that started picking fights like that was that Peni Tartan Blaster and look where it got him ..

60/40 no doubt :) im happy with 40 :)

russ mate, i dont doubt for one second that you or the UKPSF are trying to make money off the back of it. Alas there will be some people who are. If it's a fiver i think that would be a fair cost. It takes time and effort to design and manufacture these items as well as fit them. Hell i think £10 isn't too much. But if i was asked to pay £20 for someone to screw something into my regulator and put a tamperproof sticker on i'd start to think that i was being taken for a ride.

This is something that needs taken care of, no doubt. But its not something that should come at a huge expense. I realise people need to make a living, but they shouldn't be able to rip people off especially if its off the back of a safety issue.

my point is fairly simple, surely if you have 1 / 2 people at the 4.5k fill station checking every tank is that not a lot more hassel free than everyone having to change there fill nipple?!

maybe im just the only one that thinks that, fair does ^_^

and if its not then id say just limit to 3k only, it seems a lot safer than having everyone change fill nipples
