Got to take the reg off my bottle for the flight to Turkey so any tips/suggestions would be much appreciated. I've heard hot water and then a good grip is useful to get past the loctite, does anyone else have pearls of wisdom?

Yeah, using a hair dryer or something will soften the loctite. Then wrab the reg in a towel, grip it in a vice and twist like hell

Nope, you don't NEED to take the reg off (note the emphasis on NEED). Never had any issues with this and I've carried my kit on dozens of flights.
yeah, but if you do take it off, then it means there is less hassle if you should be asked to take it off

syd is right,just take out the burst discs.never had to take a reg off in over a dozen trips,two of which have been since all the high alert stuff started.
Depends on who you meet at the counter. I know with flying to America in particular they sometimes get you to take the reg off to look inside the tank for drugs etc.
A buddy of mine took an internal flight in the states last year and they had to try and remove the reg in the airport. That was a fcuk up. Completely mangled the reg trying to get it off with the wrong tools and ended up going home with a scratched bottle and doorstop reg.
