As far away from you as possible
If competitive woodsball tornements on a larger scale was available( Genesis is good and a brillaint start but due to reasosn beyond my control the team can't make it) then I would DEFINATLY be playing in it and be 100% commited.

I think the scenario section is also a brilliant idea, a lot of people I know are very into the mil sim aspect, the full experience of the day and the look of everything is very important, especially to a lotr of ex army types, anything that exposes more people to the competitive side of paintball is a brilliant idea in myt eye.

My 2 worthless pence :p

I may have skipped a few pages, I usualy do, But the point of this thread is to discuss the point of paintball as a sport in this country.

The general agreement is that we need some uniformed structure to a system in order to suceed. However it is all a devotion of time. I like 90% of people work full time, and in order to afford to ball need to work a weekend, and so begins the catch 22 that is paintballing.

In order to be able to afford the latest this or that!! I have to work. This leesons the time spent with my team.

Years ago i promised myself to start taking paintballing, since i saw the picture in pgi of pete and phil voted as the worlds best and marcus led the predss to victory and (as far as I am aware had the first signiture series guns)

The fact remains evey town has its own football team and so why is paintball not as well known????

I myself am probably the worse offender and will be the first to admit it, we all seem to have time to post on a forum and sell the latest 50,000 bps gat for £20 but we are missing the point of selling what we all love.

Or is it that we all want the exclusiveness!!!!!!

And if so is that our shortfall.

Pearsonally i think what we need is (as football yeugh!! does) a scottish league, north, south, east, west, a welsh league of the same (if players permitt) a north east, north west, a mid east, a mid west, a south east and a south west type system. culmanating in a sort of best of the best at the millenniumm of that year.

And only then can it be seen as what we need, wendy organises her tournies midlands way, good ground, so is the EPA, good ground, but could these efforts be spent in other ways???? After seeing what a show warped could put on (big game 2k6) could jim not handle the middlands. Wendy the north east / west (ground permitting) syd the south east / west and tother sid scotland (including all I have missed)

Not Forgetting Mikey and his need to ball. Could he not be responsible for the welsh region?????????

Infact would it not be (flame if you want) feesable to create a kind of self
perpetuating(tm) league system where the entrance fee payed by the players was turned back to them, say the field kept x % (but still had an interest) the rest was used for toilets etc and what was left was divided amongst the first three teams!!!!!

Yes this is a eutopea but the goals are not that unacheivable!! it is possible but the underlying fact remains is "WILL THE SITE OWNERS LET IT HAPPEN"?????????????

The title of your post explains it.......as to why we are like this, well you might as well ask 'why do most northerners speak with a funny accent', it's just the way things are...

Your sucess can be the problem for new players. Last season I played novice in the NSPL KoTH series. Earlier this year I got a call to play for a Div 1 NSPL team. I was hugely honoured, these were guys who i'd looked at in awe throughout my pervious season.

My first ever game i played for them i was sh1tt1ng myself, here i was going against some of the best teams in the south... Previous to this i had considered turning the offer down, simply because it would have been easier to start at the bottom and work up the leagues. Its only because i considered it to be a one off offer that i took it.

Its still a steep learning curve for me at the end of the season, and i've come close to jacking it all in a few times when i feel i'm out of my depth. Sometimes a little voice does ask why i spend so much money every month putting myself through the wringer physically and emotionally, and going to the gym 2-3 times a week for less than half an hour on the field (eight games, average 3 mins?). Some tourneys I've done a 3 hour round trip, payed £60 and shot less than 300 paintballs. If i do a walk-on i can play a full day and shoot 3000 paintballs for less than this.

It's getting close to me reaching the point where i am ready to throw the towel in and play for a team rather than try to run two teams, I am prepared to bring novices on to be better players, in fact the second team was made up of several players who had never played before the start of the season and finished in div B by keeping them together and training together. I just don't want to let guys down that WANT to play ball. Also can't understand why we cannot get guys who want to play div A ball.
Just P****d of with hearing guys moaning that they can't games obviously they can talk a better game than they play if any body disputes that then bring your kit and lets see you play.
