I DO believe, that I have made some very valid points, in my posts, I'm very sorry if I've rattled a few cages, but I have been playin paintball off/on since 1986, and I think that it could be in trouble in the UK @ the mo.

Don't know if this was aimed at me, but I only disagreed with the leisure time thing. All your other points I had no problem with.

some people seem to be looking for the quick fix when we need a long term stratergy.starting at the grass roots this could be a step in the right direction on that score www.nationalpaintballclub.co.uk .still one league one rule book for sup air players would be best .having one tournie a month in stead of 3 or 4 would be better giving time to train and then put things in to practice

I'd also like to add that this "3rd largest extreme sport" BS is based on numbers INCLUDING people going on rental days. Take those away, and paintball takes a big drop in the listings.

Let's not kid ourselves with BS statistics.

Doesnt matter if they are KOTH, div 1 or div 4.... they wanna play paintball....u pratt.....its remarks like that, what put people off playin !

Well, maybe it was a bad choice of words (as was the use of the word pratt... you really should start watching your language, you big old knobjockey you....), but he does have a point?

Why would I want to give a discount to a team if them wearing my logo is unlikely to bring me any revenue, because they play in a Mickey Mouse division?

Exactly what I've been saying for months.

If we find a way to build up more Walk On players this will benefit all forms of paintball. Be it scenario/tourney.

Rec ball to tourney is a huge leap without the walk on stage in between and I imagine that while watching a dvd of a tourney would make people go "wow, that looks fantastic" I think people would also be quite intimidated if they were expected to step up to tourney with no middle ground.

I have an idea and I am trying to put it into practice, it will just take a little time and little help. I'll be posting something up on here shortly.

No seriously - who cares what I call them/what division they play, the point was maximising any investment from paintball companies - or did I touch a nerve? If a few egos get bruised, then that's a sacrifice for the cause.

Hell, look at Ninthwizard's comments - spot on I think, there is NO structured training in the UK, forget the Media, forget the Unified UK league idea, there is no way for us to be taken seriously "as a sport" with the current training ideology that is endemic in this Country. The leagues/Media can wait until we've actually worked out how to improve at a grassroot skill level.

Why do Paintballers have this huge (read overwhelmingly, crashingly massive) insecurity about being taken seriously? Surely if you can show that you train as an athelete, you have more chance of being taken seriously then just a single UK league? Stop being vain and wanting the spotlight - that's what Big Brother is for.

Paint prices

Take for example LIPS *London International Paint Supplies*

They do deals on teams for paint, and equipment, becasue they know that by doing this, their takings overall will go up, as a 'favour' commands rewards, ie, the better you treat your 'customers' *teams*, the more moohlah they will spend.....


so, it isn't a bad idea to give 'numpty' teams a fair deal on paint, is it....



And another thing,

The 'numpty' team members who MAY read this thread, will probably agree with my points, so let folk play, how they wanna play....I agree with some points made, but avidly disagree with others.

Please tell me you are playing Devils Advocate?

You tell me how a company giving £5 off a box of paint to any numpty team prepared to wear it's logo is Sponsorship dollars well spent?

You tell me that you want to spend your money on Teams/Players that are dedicated - what is more dedicated than a player/team training every weekend? And I'm talking about 45mins warm-up, Basic skills drills repeated constantly and every time - not just when you feel like it, coaches giving advice on improving stance/technique, then those drills repeated, finally a warm-down at the end of a day, y'know - REAL training. Like the sort that proper Athletes do all the time.

99% of UK teams couldn't TRAIN to save their lives. And that is why we fail.

Giving this team a discount on paint just means I'm not making so much money off them and they in turn don't have to spend so much - they already spent a lot getting to the tournament, paying entry fees, accomodation and such. This is simple deal - They pay less for my paint, but buy more of it since it's the only paint they're buying = in long run I earn more because I'm selling more paint to them, also other teams who are not sponsored buy it because it's quality paint. That's a positive thing for the business as opposed to me taking the cash I have in my wallet to pay for your coaches.

You're trying to convince me that a team having regular training sessions is a dedicated one. But you're arguing it by telling me that you'll be gracious enough to move your butt out to the field for a session with a coach I paid for, as I understand it. I would have to be in a serious mental condition to do that and shouldn't be really running a company in such a state.

If you want to show dedication - start organising training sessions at reball centres. If you have any left in your viccinity, that is, as I heard of at least one closing down recently due to lack of customers.

Actually at this point, I'd like to thank two people who helped me improve my skills over the years.

The first is Stan (Paul Stannard, British Youth Rowing coach and kick-ass player) who used to help me structure a half-decent training regime for my old team, complete with reports on player performance

The Second is Jay (B3) for reminding me years ago why drills were so important, and why training must come first. And not killing me the first time we met.

Paintball needs Coaches. Twizz is a start, offering his services to those that want it, but we need more people willing to help.
