Did it on mine and the batt light stays on but hey ho

I believe the batteries need connecting in series, not in parrallel.

That's the way I've always done them.
It makes them 18v where as the other way will only make a longer lasting 9v I believe.
I've got 3 like that and had no probs,easiest way it to test with a volt meter.

Ok
I've just done the test I mentioned and the way I've shown will give 18v,unfortunately Rosie the other way as I suspected only gives a longer lasting 9v output.
I think the Halo's do work differently hence the confusion,ok
