I made the trip down to Dartford several times from Nottingham this year, but I suppose its all down to determination :) There are a few of you around, perhaps somebody driving and sharing the petrol will turn out cheaper, I know people go from Grantham in under 2 hours down the M11, or you could zoom down the M1 in about the same time!
Also went down after uni on mondays and tuesdays to the Indoor in Bham, but dont expect to be back before 11.30 as the trains ran at 10.15 and 11.15 from New street.

First year I lived in The Maltings! Halls were the absolute best thing. Looking at that map, Rosie you will be living right by where my house was this past year. I was on Woodborough Road just past Blenhiem halls. Will take you about 10 minutes to walk into uni from where you are! If you are really stuck for money too, you wont need taxis. Especially when you are drunk and pushing a trolley up the hill at 5am with the sun coming up :D

As for money, I somehow managed to get through my first year playing a hell of a lot of paintball, and not ever having to struggle on lentils, however my accomodation was paid by the parents  so my loan was all towards tuition fees and living!
Although you shouldn't (read this as its against the rules), you can get several student account and use the overdrafts should you need to.
In fact thats how I managed to play so much

Lastly, Norton Court.
All that i'll say is the gun shop outside the entrance has a pretty good number of customers

I assume he's on about Quadball. There's a thread in the this forum on the first page or two about it. Went there last week, it's not too shabby. Fine to get a bit of evening trigger time in. The wood chippings are mighty slippy though.

I very much doubt that you'll never be at your halls. The area makes no difference, when you are in there, you'll have such a good time you wont remember.

The indoor is Quadball, it used to take me about 2 hours from leaving my house, walking to the station, train taking about 1hr 15minutes and then either a bus or another train. Bus is easier as it drops you closer, train you have a good 15 minute walk along one big road.
I've found the quickest way now is to take my bike, wear most your playing gear, and get a backpack (NXe works great) for the rest and cycle from Kings Norton station

Yeah it's not far from the Maltings :).
I was thinking of taking a bike for during the day, but that hill is huge .
Is that Asian supermarket any good ;)? I'm quite close to it

I've got a student account but I had the whole 'use your overdraft & get into debt & die blah blah blah' off my parents, so I took it off...I'll get a job or something as well ;)

Quadball's quite good, but yeah the floor's really slippy. I'll look into getting there from Nottingham; the Bike's a good idea (didn't know you could take bikes on trains? :)). You're not meant to take air systems on public trainsport, but who cares, they're not checking up...:)

You're still about 3 miles from the Maltings, but if you ever go near there, go to the sandwich shop there, best breakfasts ever!
Asiana is alright, if you like cooking your own chinese or indian or buy cans of drink in bulk, apart from that we never went there.
I wouldn't bother with a bike, first day at uni mine got nicked ever though it was locked up, however I did get the insurance money and spend it on better things! Its only 10 minutes anyway.

Student account or job, I know which I'd prefer. Having worked all summer when I've been at uni, i've been glad to go back and not have to bother. Sup to you though.

And if you look on a train, you'll see the larger spaces and racks for bikes.
