excel centre in docklands
Exactly what I was going to say.

ExCel is probably the most obvious place in London. It's fricking enormous, you could fit 5 fields, staging area and the trade show in about half of it. There's no problem getting there either, it's got 2 stations on the DLR, road links are good and it's right next to London City Airport for those travelling from overseas. There's also plenty of parking there, and 2 or 3 large hotels so accomodation is no problem either. Other hotels in Canary Wharf and Greenwich are only a few minutes away by tube and DLR too.

The other massive bonus is that it's indoors so weather is not an issue.

Also, and most importantly, it's a high profile London venue and with a little publicity could really draw in the crowds. If Millennium charged something like £1 for spectators I reckon they'd be able to cover costs.

On the down side it would be hugely expensive to hire out for the 6 days or so that setting up, playing and tearing down would require.

as an european from the main land, I would say near the channel tunnel please!!

Why as apart from Paris no other is located close to it. It takes me 9hrs to get to the channel tunnel an the length of time it takes to get to the tunnel is the same length of time according to AA that it takes to get from paris to all the other millenium events in europe. It should be placed where its best for the country not for europe (you dont even want to get me into the debate of how we always bend over backwards to appease europe)

Should be held at Alton Towers or Drayton Manor. Huge grounds with a potentially huge spectator base if placed correctly at the park.

Off the top of my head from the Midlands

Castlecroft (Wolverhampton, rugby fields with stands)
NEC (great links with transport, high profile but away from any passing visitors, plenty of secure parking)
Drayton Manor theme park (lots of space, good transport links, loads of visitors, again loads of parking)

I think we need something similar to Marseille's set up in that people who would normally be running along the beach, walking dogs, shopping, sun bathing etc would spot it and go take a look.

Only a suggestion - Northwest Athletic Arena (next to Man City's ground), this is a recently built arena with 6,000 covered seats. The arena also includes wind barriers which should help and being recently built is in very good nick. Parking not an issue as something could be arranged with the Man City stadium and for transport Manchester and Liverpool airports are close. Hotels are no problems in the city centre. Only issue would be to make sure it did not clash with a football match or a big concert in the Gmex or NEM.

After a quick check, there's almost 1200 hotel rooms available at the ExCel centre. I for one would strongly be in favour of staging Campaign there in the future.
Been to the Excel centre for stuff like LIDS and it would be a great place to go. Main trouble would be airtanks are not allowed on public transport, just imagin the number of people comming through on the dockyards light railway.

Emirates Stadium
Millennium Stadium
ExCeL
Wembley (if it's finished by the end of this century!)

There are no issues with taking air tanks on public transport. I took 2 tanks to Paris on the Eurostar and nobody said anything, they were even full on the way back and they were more interested in having a look at the paint in my bag than anything else!

I reckon that these places would be good for Millennium event.

Emirates Stadium--WAY too much to hire out-and no need for all that space
Millennium Stadium--possibly
ExCeL--possibly
Wembley (if it's finished by the end of this century!)--again its too much
NEC--NEC ALL THE WAY!
Whats going on with the millenium dome? Could have one there...
