Chicago what makes the PSP better
THIS year, PSP has had better reffing. I would argue that the setup and layout is better with the ability to stage right next to the field you play on so you don't have to leave your stuff, but that's a bit of a format issue. The playing surface (grass) is absolutely, significantly better than green commercial carpeting on asphalt, especially now that sometimes you just get green asphalt. PSP has an ID card system that works - you get your card when you pay for your card. For the vast majority of teams, playing PSP is much cheaper (5-man is much cheaper than 7-man; D3 XBall is comparable to D2 7-man, although from then on TEAM costs get more expensive. Individual costs are still cheaper for XBall.) PSP pays out a lot more prize money, both in magnitude of prizes, and as a percentage of entry fees. And you get to play a lot more paintball for your buck.
So, your turn, what's better about NPPL?
I'll get you started:
- Free water
- VIP area
- Usually/always better trade show (more small vendors, definitely)
- Better local promotion
In terms of actually PLAYING paintball, though, only the water makes a difference, and I'd rather bring my own than trust whatever may or may not be in the coolers.
