NPPL - played on the same tatty old carpet on concrete. Held down by instant grab glue and even spray painting the concrete green. It might all look the same from the stands but players sure feel it. Running and diving on concrete isn't the best idea in most people books.

PSP - can't get free water to teams when the event is held in one of the hottest places of the year forcing people to pay $3 a bottle just to stay upright.

One could argue that both leagues have their problems...

Chicargo's inferance was that NPPL has major problems i know the surface isn't perfect but as tournaments go its the price to pay for having the locations the NPPL does. personaly i like to see 2 leages it gives the players a the option and keeps the leages striving to get better

Chicago's point is what you say "the price to pay for having the locations the NPPL does". To some having a better playing surface etc is important and counts as logistics with the locations falling into the atmosphere catergory.

Logistics are things like ease of registration, scheduling of games, reffing, team preparation areas, quality of netting etc. I haven't been to a PSP this year so can't comment on those things compared to an NPPL.

how much does that XL turf cost?
NPPL should use that...
Well, average field is 1650m squared not including extra areas around the side

The Millennium is selling their used fields at 25 Euros a sq m so that's a minimum of over $300,000 for 6 fields. Not including transport, storage and set up costs.

So a lot.

I see you have been going to a few PSP's Chicago, and yet I have not seen you at any NPPL's for a while, have you been at all this year?
I might as well say it - Anyone who says the NPPL has poor logistics obviously hasn't been to an NPPL event for a while.

Chicago what makes the PSP better:confused:
THIS year, PSP has had better reffing. I would argue that the setup and layout is better with the ability to stage right next to the field you play on so you don't have to leave your stuff, but that's a bit of a format issue. The playing surface (grass) is absolutely, significantly better than green commercial carpeting on asphalt, especially now that sometimes you just get green asphalt. PSP has an ID card system that works - you get your card when you pay for your card. For the vast majority of teams, playing PSP is much cheaper (5-man is much cheaper than 7-man; D3 XBall is comparable to D2 7-man, although from then on TEAM costs get more expensive. Individual costs are still cheaper for XBall.) PSP pays out a lot more prize money, both in magnitude of prizes, and as a percentage of entry fees. And you get to play a lot more paintball for your buck.

So, your turn, what's better about NPPL?

I'll get you started:

- Free water
- VIP area
- Usually/always better trade show (more small vendors, definitely)
- Better local promotion

In terms of actually PLAYING paintball, though, only the water makes a difference, and I'd rather bring my own than trust whatever may or may not be in the coolers.

I should clarify what I meant by logistics - I was going on (I think) Pete's use of the word, meaning, services related to actually playing paintball (i.e., things not 'the show', which NPPL excels at). In the traditional definition, NPPL logistics are different than PSP logistics, but I can't say either is better or worse.

And yes, I've been to NPPL this year.
