another thing have a look on paypal and elect to undergo the steps to become "verfied" as soon as possible it makes you look more geniune.

it can take a couple of weeks to do - basically paypal makes two descreet payments to you less than £1

for example £0.58 and £0.91

these show up on your bank statement, then you go to paypal and there is a page wherre you enter these digits like a code i.e. 058091 and that goes to show that you definitely live at the address you gave as your billing address and the card / bank details are genuine.

This makes people have an extra level of assurance in you as a seller.

Selling online is actually very easy and very good fun. remember if you are in doubt, just walk away.

Paypal is safest for receiving money, and never ship before payment has been made, no matter how trustworthy the person claims to be.

haven't done that much internationally, just a bit on ebay here and there but the only difference i can see is that it takes a few days more for my parcels to arrive...............................

always send everything either special delivery or first class signed for. that way no one can say they didn't get their item when it is sitting beside them..............

Pebs, if you want to receive money, just ask one of us guys to recieve it into out paypal and we'll bring the money to the quarter one weekend, thats if you can't be bothered with figuring out paypal.

Paypal charges you for receiving money, around 4% is a good estimate, so £16 from a £400 transfer of money.

once they have paid you, the money appears instantly in your paypal account. they cannot remove this money from your paypal account. so yes you are safe to ship as soon as the balanace appears.

the only way money can get back to the buyer is if you instruct paypal to refund the whole (or Partial ) amount.

depending on what type of account you have it costs you money to receive payments - typically this is about 4% of the total so yes £4 for every £100 you receive.

IF you sell things via Ebay, there is also a listing fee, and an auction end fee. that how paypal and ebay make their money (theiving *******s! ;) )

NO, not true, if they have paid by card and the balance appears as complete on your paypal account, paypal can still freeze the account and remove the money if the other persons payment was fraudulent, i've had it done to me before and you don't get your money back. They can also dispute a transaction. If you don't know the person you are selling too, a cheque is always best or direct fund payment over the counter.

Paypal isn't 100% safe.

don't use western union. paypal can be dodgy sometimes, however i have never had it happen to me and i use it all the time. cheques can bounce, so don't post till the cheque is cleared.

remember there is usually little comeback if any if you do get stung. rarely happens though. you can also wait until the paypal payment is sitting in your debit account before posting anything away.

the process usually takes 4-5 days to transfer from paypal to your bank, and once it is in your bank it cannot be taken away, except by you.
