You are much better off with a Verified Paypal account, to start with.
Also...when you are verified...the person doesnt even need a paypal account to pay you...you can send them a payment request, which they can then fill in with a debit or credit card.
Unless you are trading silly amounts, charges are 3.4% plus 20p per transaction.
Transferring funds to your bank account will take 5-7 days in my experience.
I would transfer any significant amount straight to your bank account, as soon as it arrives
...that way, it is no longer in your paypal account and is winging its way to teh relative safety of your nominated bank account.
Verification takes a short while to set up but is very worth it, as you can then add a cool logo to your sig, like me!
