selling online? advice please

well there is a first time for everything, how do i receive people's money if i were selling stuff on p8ntballer/pbnation, and i need advice like- only send the stuff when i receive the money etc- advice for P+P is its best to record delivery just incase royal mail lose it as usual etc

Always use recorded deilvery - always

If your unsure and your not using paypal then only ship when you actually have the money in your bank or hands.

Keep a record of pm's or emails

Keep there address (you never know)

Always try and check feedback

always try and pack stuff how you would want to recieve it and use a printed label or very neat handwrirting.

what do i give the customer to transfer the $$ just my paypal account then he puts his details thru then is it sorted?

If your using paypal, then all you need to do is send them the email address which you used to setup your paypal account, its really easy when you get going.Also when he/she send the paypal money there address will be attached so you know where you can send the goods, if there asking you to send to another address ask why?

i think i have a paypal cus i bought summat on ebay once but then i got all this spoofs and nearly got fooled to give my card number and PIN CODE cus im gullible and got too nervous to buy sell online again so i sort of thought to myself il never do that again, but i need to sell some stuff to america

It's easiest for both of you if you're on paypal (you can make/recieve instant payments, but they charge you...), or you can ask for cheques (takes a long time), or ask for a bank transfer.

If you're selling you will always ask them to pay first, recieve funds/cash the cheque, then send the item

Although this is good for small/mid items people generally wanna make sure you're not gonna take £500+ for a marker & run so sometimes it's better to do it face to face. Also gets rid of paypal fees

Recorded is good on expensive items, otherwise just send 1st class

If your selling stuff, then your in control. If its paypal ship to the address on the paypal account. if its bank transfer wait till you have the money, if its a cheque wait till you have the cheque and it has cleared, in all cases make sure you have your money then ship your goods

okay i sorted my self a premiere account

i have a debit card

if sum1 wants to buy an item form me now all i do is just give him/her my email address then if he/she is usin paypal also i can send the goods at thh same time?

but does the £ get automatically get transferred to your card or..........

money people send you on paypal goes into your paypal account -kinda like online banking. once this gets to more than say £25 you can extract this to the actual bank account that you have assocaited with your paypal debit card.

IF the amount is below this arbitrary figure (i *think* its £25 it might have changed) you have to pay a small fee to remove your balance.
Note - you have to nominate a bank account and set it up to receive payments coming from your paypal balance.

SO YES you get the money instantly - but only into your PAypal accont not yor bank account.

Paypal I have found is very safe and I have done some BIG deals over the water - such as buying guitars and things over $1000USD.

the thing you need to be aware of is the fact that they will need to send you the money in £GBP, otherwise YOU will foot the bill for the conversion from dollars to pounds. I know this because I tried to send money in pounds to america, and it costs the guy money to transfer it and i had to send him more money to cover this admin fee.

obviously if you are buying you have to go along with the sellers demands.

also be aware that any money you receive as means of payment undergoes a charge by paypal - its around 3.35% + 25p or soemthing like that.
for this reason its often best to specifiy "if paying by paypal please add 4% to cover fees". otherwise, the item you *think* you have sold for £100 suddenly becomes £96 and then perhaps if you said you would post it too it costs you another £!0 and you dont actually get your £100 at all.

that is all there is to be aware of i think.
