I don’t think the reg would come of the bottle if you threw as hard as you can on concrete – just think of the rigorous testing they have to go under. And secondly I expect the bottles and regs come under more pressure when people do really big or mess up there superman dives.

Ok you might try to land on your elbows but im sure people regularly land bottle/ASA first or as well as another body part. So not only the fall but the bottle, ASA and regulator connections have to withstand the force of body weight.

the only reason they throw there gun on the ground is that there teddy is out of reach in the pram on the side lines.:D

most of them that throw their guns are sponsered so the did not have the full cost of the marker. i just think it is funny next you will see stamping of feet and throwing tantrams on the field like a five year old. i just walk away laughing.

I'm not claiming to know the tolerances of the bottles or necks or anything to do with these things. The worst I have personally witnessed was a mere macroling breaking when the gun hit the deck.

Still though, would you rather wait until something has happened before an action is taken?

Might not be as nice a thread then... :(

OK.. thanks Slim i needed reminding of how much of a bell end I was doing that  But your completely right ...so yeh, I did it at the masters, no i did not even consider the safety implications when i did it and yes i was throwing my teddy out the pram because my gun stopped working ....I was also told in no uncertain terms by the marshalls that it was a ****ing stupid thing to do ,that potentially I could of really hurt somebody and if I did it again I would face an immediate BAN from the series.

believe me I was aware the second after I had done it that I shouldn't have but by that time its too late and I apologised immediately (and was also informed to do so immediately by the Clan manager)

By the way I spend a fortune on my kit and next time ill throw it about in my back garden so no one else is at risk ..

SORRY ..no excuses

Simple fact is
Recklessly throwing a marker to the floor is nothing more that flagrant disregard of personal safety. When you dive/slid with a marker you do have control and the impact on the ground is nothing like the jarring a randomly thrown marker will cause.
I do agree that the risk is small, but that is not a risk any tournement or team should be prepared to take, because any injury caused by such action will lead to a police investigation.
As 3-4-1 was the agreed punishment on the day, then it should be implimented, if there was insufficient players on field then penalty points is the next course of action.
In my view a thrown marker is no different to what we classify as a dangerous marker - thus the player should get banned for the day

DSKize, You letting that scottish temperiment get to you mate :(

in the Canadian Xball league it's a automatic ban from the match for the player, and if it happens in the last 5 minutes, it's a ban from the next match as well.

Personally i think it should be a ban for the remainder of the season.

you can get banned from the MS if you throw your gun i think?

i think there is a safety issue there and it is a good idea to issue punishment for doing it!

It wasn't just you though mate, it happend three times that I witnessed.

(and I wasn't planning on naming names, it happens all over the place not just this weekend, your not the first an definately not the last)

The thing that bothered me the most was the fact that the incidents I witnessed with the exception of yourself were all either div 1 or div 2 teams who should in theory know better. It's not really the best example to be setting to other less experienced players either is it?

Anyway get down from the cross, this isn't a personal attack. :) :) :p

The bottle itself will probably handle far more abuse than being thrown to the ground. But the threaded section of the reg that screws into the bottle would probably shear off, and make the bottle into a lethal 5000psi torpedo.
If you think this would just zoom around the floor and cause no damage at all, think again.
When i was doing my apprenticeship in engineering, i saw a 6 foot long oxygen bottle fall over and shear the reg off the top. This 6 foot long bottle flew down the workshop and destroyed a pallet full of castings. if it had met someone on it's way to the castings it would have taken their legs off.

It's about time this sport was taken a bit more seriously.
