At what age do you think sites should let kids start paintball at as i have been told some sites let them start at the age of 8. Is it just me or do other people think this is to young ?

Yeah that is way too young not only will a 8 year olds pain threshold be a lot lower then an adult they will also not understand the game fully and will not be able to make the most of the day. I think the minimum age should at least 12 maybe even older.
I know some paintball sites also do laser games for younger groups which I personally think is the way forward.

As long as they're mature enough to respect the safety side, and can handle the pain of being hit I think it's fine.
There's no age limit on most other sports, and these are the only two factors I can see that make paintball stand out amongst others as needing a limit.
I'd say something like u13's allowed, but under the discretion of parents.
... I guess at the end of the day it's how it's dealt with by the site. Just letting young players of 8 etc play with no extra care given to them is definitely bad. But educate them properly and it should be fine.

I imagine sites running games for 8 year olds aren't having them running around with .68cal guns more likely turned down .50cal or even those splatmaster things. Lot of adult punters don't understand the games or rules so there's no difference there.
Just that i would not let my boy play until he was 12 so that he would understand the rules better
its a maturity thing really. from a site owner perspective, a lot might reach the conclusion that most 8 year olds won't fully respect the safety element.
As far as the pain element goes, chronoing down the guns or even investing in .50 cal equipment would be a good way to make sure young customers can still have fun. this is important because A. you don't want kids sitting out after 1 game because its too painful (less paint sales etc.) and B. they probably wouldn't want to come back if it was too much for them.
From a player perspective, If you find a site that allows your young child to play then just make sure that they fully understand the safety rules BEFORE going to the site and also that they are well prepared for the pain side of things. as mentioned, the vast majority of 8 year olds will find it a lot tougher than 12-16 year olds etc.

I have a 12 year old girl who cant wait to go and play, but until i think she is mentally mature enough ill keep her waiting a little longer... Plus, i'm not happy that goggles dont fit her to well at the mo as they are still a little big for her.
