I have a 12 year old girl who cant wait to go and play, but until i think she is mentally mature enough ill keep her waiting a little longer... Plus, i'm not happy that goggles dont fit her to well at the mo as they are still a little big for her.
I found this a bit of a prob to shame no one makes them for kids

Whilst reffing at YPC, I have seen kids run around with splat masters. Looked like they really enjoyed thenselvesas the rate of fire is slower as they require a pump before the next shot (as opposed to semi with loader).

The site I work at run mini-ballers for kids between 8-12, usually group half days with limited paint and kingman .50 - these guns are semi-automatic and the kids often run out of paint way to quickly, loose their paint by opening their hoppers because they can, start picking up paint (irritating) or if they fall over.
We use full headshields for the kids, which is good as it provide a roof in the goggles for the kids to drop the goggles onto. Marshals make sure that the foam seal is as tight as it can be before we let them out to the guns.

I think if you can find a site which does a splatmaster kids day you'd be in for a winner... doubt there are many kicking about though!

Ithink being 8 and playing is way too young, for a few things:
1. running around with a t-98 is going to be serious work for little kids, i mean i'm 14 and they have got a bit of weight to them, so they might end up dropping them alot, and then parents have to pay if any serious damage occurs.
2. they are not going to be sensible with thhe gun, if you're 8 and you see something that will make someone else have a colour on them, they are going to pull the trigger at there mates, possably near the safe zones which could cause major injury, talking about injuries...
3. the kids might take off there masks whilst playing, they might catch a round in the eye, or their friend might think its a funny idea to twat him one in the face without a mask on!
4. the pain threshold, this is an obvious one :p
5. similar to pain threshold; if youve got some teens with own guns ( like myself ) and they get shot a few times on the chest, they wont be able to handle it, and probably break down crying, thats what kids do.
6. they might not notice the scenery, loose roots from tree's in the floor, trip, ankle sprained, doesnt want to play anymore, day? ruined.
there are a few more reasons, but i think those are the more important ones, i think you should be 11 before playing, but then again i was 9 the first time i played! contradiction i know!

A few points.
1 I doubt any site would have 8 year olds running around t 98's, they would must likely be using splatmasters if not .50 cal with small bottles, and i can't imagine any site surviving long if they charge for damage to their kit.
2 plenty of adults are not sensible with guns, guns should not be in the safe area nor should any activity near the safe area have any baring to those in the safe area, it's called the safe area for a reason.
3 it's down to the staff to make sure they do play safe and keep their masks on, no different from marshalling adults who always know better.
4, not a lot of pain from splatmasters which is the reason sites use them.
5 why would players with their own gear be shooting them, they would be in another group.
6 i've seen plenty of adults run into trees, trip over logs and anything else you can think of so no difference there.

I thnk younger kids can play, subject to two provisos;

1 Lower FPS, or lower impact kit (ie 50cal)

2 Careful group selection - you wouldn't want a group of 8year olds mixed in with an idiot on a stag do!

Don't fall foul of the Law.

According to the UKPSF website, the industry uses the airgun law to regulate the sport.

"Persons under the age of 14:

1) No person under the age of 14 may purchase, hire or be given an airgun or ammunition.
2) A person under the age of 14 must at all times when shooting be supervised by a person over the age of 21."
