Vouches are used in UKScenario, a new member can buy but cannot sell without a vouch from an 'established' member. The vouch shoudl be from someone who actualy knows the new member so that they are providing a point of contact / guarantor of the new member.
This takes a lot of effort by the forum mods reminding prospective sellers of the rules. Sometimes they give a gentle reminder and allow some time for the rules to be complied with, e.g. to let the vouch get posted, and to enforce other rules such as a 'proof' photo with the username & date. If the rules are not complied with in a reasonable time, or the new member does not seem to have any intent to read the rules and comply then the sales post is edited out with details of the rules that need to be complied with.
Tom, as always, speaks the truth, it's not a perfect system (none are, all have their drawbacks), but it seems to work for us most of the time. I think as we are a smaller site it is manageable, probably wouldn't work here.

We've talked about something similar to the minimum posts you guys have started and i think it's a good idea for P8nt. Shows people have something more to offer than just B/S/T. All forums at the end of the day are a community first and a trading post second.

Nice one. :)

If everyone paid the fee by PayPal your guaranteed your money back so maybe everyone should do that.
Strictly speaking the seller should foot the bill of the fee and price their sale accordingly
This makes it easier for the buyer to work out how much a sale will cost
The protection does not count when you make payment as owed to a friend/familythis does not stop fees, it depends on where your money is sourced. Payment owed means fees are not taken from the total received by the seller

However the ability to dispute and reclaim you payment protects the buyer from fraudulent sellers, it does not protect sellers from fraudulent buyers who take the goods and take back the money - a current case of this is a key factor in the rule change

Yes, for now.

If we catch you popping up ten posts in as many minutes we'll restrict you further.

Take a day or two, read around, get to know the place. We're mostly nice :D
