Yep the thread saver/external on/off is the rap4 version. A few other companies do them too but as far as I am aware the rap4 version is the only one easily available in the UK. It's also a lovely bit of kit from personal experience so I would recommend it over the top of others anyway

Ill find a link a little later (currently on the phone) as they do multiple versions of it. That way if you do want one in the future your good to go.
That top one in your pic is a smart parts one isn't it?

And here is a link to the Rap4 one... http://www.rap4uk.com/RAP4-In-Line-On-Off-Air-Adapter-p/9183.htm

I think I have a much better idea of what do now next time I'm at a tournament or something and what to look out for, thanks very much all of you. Both the ASA and the one matj mentioned both look as though they would help my gun and obviously thanks MeDiC for help with the bottle and I will give a couple I try next time I'm on site or even at BZ. This is easily the best forum I've come across to help us paintball noobs upgrade/improve our guns. So thanks again :)

One little thing I did to my mini is to add an extra magnet to the trigger. I Personally found it too loose and lacking "feel" when firing. A little rare earth magnet from Maplins will latch onto the magnet that is built into you trigger guard and make the trigger snap back faster. I found it improves the trigger a little (and it costs <£3!)

Ah right, yeah I have noticed that, it does have a nice trigger but it is sorta loose, so I might aswell try that and see how I find it seen as its not too expensive. Thanks mate

I think the main thing, as has been mentioned, is to upgrade your bottle to some form of fibre wrapped one.

48ci or a 68 are good, and all depends on how much preference you put on weight of setup, and the length of your arms essentially.
Most will get on with a 68 (or 1.1) but others like the smaller 48's. I myself can use a 'standard size' 1.1 (some can vary in shape) but it's not my favourite. As such I changed to a 48 (0.8) fibre wrapped and absolutely loved it - though, again there are issues with less air capacity. I've just bought a 1.1 guerilla with a myth reg (small and stubby regulators to reduce the length of your bottle to nearly that of a 0.7) and it's great, all the pros of a small bottle with the capacity of a 1.1.
Check the Lips / BZ / any other pb shop websites to browse the general bottles being offered.

You're not going to see any serious tournament / speedball / whatever you want to call it player using a steely.

Don't get me wrong, for the price they're great and an excellent way to get younger or newer players to afford their initial kit.
The problem is the weight, the shape, and the limitation of 3k. As most will say however, at many sites you'll struggle to find a >3k fill, but you'll be kicking yourself if you do find one. Also they're heavy buggers and still only 48ci / 0.7: not much air to be had.

This is all money dependent I know, but it'd be my first port of call. Upgrading bits on your marker before upgrading a steely is almost like having a house and buying new upholstery for the sofas before sorting out the electrics or water.

Just keep checking the classifieds as they can come up for as low as £60 dependent on amount of test.

- Feel free to poke holes in this if anyone disagrees :)

Looks like you may be on a roll  pretty sure that's the one.

As above the magnet idea is good. Rare earth magnets work well. You can add it to the trigger itself or the trigger guard/grip area. Personally I prefer not to use one, but i can see the benefits of having one as well. For £3 its worth a shot. I do keep them in my spares kit though just in case I do want one at any point.

A similar small modification... The battery cover screw can be changed for one of the thumb screws found on the back of PC's...again available from maplin. Not a required upgrade (i hardly go into my battery compartment) but is handy if you want tool less access to the battery/board. It does however stick out where as the normal screw does not. Personal preference really. Although...if you decide to use them put 3 or 4 spares in your bag too. If you lose it your going to have a bad day.

Have to agree with Niall though...the CF tank paired with an on/off ASA of some form is a must. I do not play sup air etc at all at the moment so a steely is perfect for me. I play causal punter days whenever time allows (finishing my degree currently) otherwise I would be looking at getting a fibre wrapped for my mini too.

Beaten to it. Thank you haha

I'm entirely unsure on the top one. It was very kindly donated to me and has no markings on it to suggest its manufacturer or brand.
It is a Smart Parts on/off ASA ;) the little bubble sticker on the on/off knob, fell off ages ago!

Me too. Works a treat :) Although I put a delrin trigger in there aswell, which had roller bearings, which made it a bit better still.

And sorry, but weight? lol! :D When I started out, my gun (without bottle, barrel, hopper) would weigh as much as your entire set up, then we added a steel co2 cylinder, which when you filled you had to weigh it, a Viewloader, a steel barrel, a stock, laser dot sight etc. You knew you were kitted out back then :)

And a few years later I had an Emag xtreme (or whatever its called) with a steel tank, warp feed, Halo. Im sure this was a 5-6 lb setup! Maybe more! For reference, the mini is about 2lb with barrel
