Maybe both, if someone will be happy to let you take their bottle out for 10 minutes or so, or just even to let off a pod or two outside the staging with it on your gat.

A trader wouldn't let you take it out on field for obvious reasons, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you took your marker to the stand to try a couple of tanks on for size.

Just be sure to remove your loader, and have a barrel sock in place wether the bottle has air in it or not and I would advise you ask them to attach the bottle to your ASA for you. If you cross the threads on the bottle, you've bought it...

Most important piece of advice I can give you for when you find a bottle you like. Get yourself a decent cover, a thread protector (CP metal ones are good) and a fill nipple protector (either CP or Ninja magnetic)
I understand I will try that next time I'm at a tournament which will probably be at starrgate which is unfortunately a bit away. But thank you, all that has helped a lot! :)

If you're at staargate come find Onslaught Special Forces, look out for me there and you can try my 68 cubic inch 4500psi.

Out of interest, do you know what size bottle you have now ? Is it fairly heavy with a flat base ? If yes, you've most likely got a 48ci 3000psi or more well known and referred to as a steely.

If you're looking for a shorter set-up, a 48/4500 might be more your cup of tea. People usually call them peanut tanks or stubbies as they're quite small.

My bottle is fairly big compared to my mini, I wouldn't know the dimensions of it though but the picture might help. It is a heavy bottle though compared to some I've used before but I used to use a remote line with it so I never noticed but it makes a lot of different now due to the gun size.

Yeah I shall make sure I do that, thanks, which colour is that or have you not decided yet? I might have a look at some smaller tanks then next time I go to a walkon for the time being.

Yeah that looks like a steely, nowt wrong with them. But some people prefer the weight or lack of with a fibre wrapped tank to be able to shoulder it more comfortably.

Back to previous comments on the ASA...

The option of buying the Axe version is quite costly (about £80 if i remember right? please correct me guys if it's wrong)

Another option is an external off/on ASA but this will add an EXTRA inch in-between your marker and tank making the distance from your shoulders to the trigger an inch further away. This is less costly (mine was £25 i think) and is the budget option. Personally I don't mind the extra distance but my tank is at least an inch shorter than your steely (mine is another steely, just a different manufacturer and design)

The Mrs runs exactly the same setup and doesn't mind the extra distance. It's all dependent on the size of the tank in the first place and personal preference.

a note on the external ASA though...it doesn't purge the mini. It merely stops the tank from releasing any more air by taking the pressure off of the pin on the tank. You will then need to 'dry fire' the remaining air inside the mini. It does make it easier to take the tank off the same as the on/off ASA though.

If the dough is plentiful go with the axe version. If not consider the external (y) (the external is not in my display pic, it was added after that was taken. That is my current tank though. If you want a pic of the external then just let me know.)

MeDiC what would you personally recommend to try/look at instead of the steel bottle?

matj Ah okay, the budget option would probably be better because then I could use the spare money to spend on a better bottle which would probably help as well. Would you be able to PM a picture of that though mate because I'd be intrested in seeing how it works. Once again though thanks again for the help, it does help a lot!

Sorry for the large pic...no idea how to make it smaller for the purposes of posting it here.

In its current position it pushes the pin in on the tank. Screw it in so that it is flush with the marker ASA and the pin on the tank is no longer pushed down preventing air from coming out of the tank. Makes it so much easier to unscrew the tank and less wear on the thread. Best £25 I ever spent in my opinion.

The top one is an older model but is the same length. It's the Mrs version. I included it so you can see the difference without a tank in the way (as you are considering getting a carbon etc mine is not an accurate representation of what you intend to be using so an additional view may be handy).

Hope that helps.

Looking around have struggled to find a price from a UK stockist of the Empire On/off relay however US companies sell it for £55. Buying it from the states would have postage + customs on top though

Ring up a few uk retailers and get some quotes before deciding which to get (y)

I would recommend a 68/4500 fibre wrapped bottle, but if you're adding a thread-saver on/off (as matj is using) you do need to remember you will add that extra inch. Some don't mind an extra inch (;)), some will find
It uncomfortable, it's down to personal preference.

The relays can be picked up quite readily from UK stores, Just Paintball, LiPS, BZ and the NPF online store all carry them as an example, just have a bimble around, fire off an email or two and enquire about stock if its what you're looking for. If your store of choice doesn't have them in stock, I'm sure they wouldn't mind getting one in for you. As for the thread saver option, RAP4UK is the UK stockist of them.

Yep the thread saver/external on/off is the rap4 version. A few other companies do them too but as far as I am aware the rap4 version is the only one easily available in the UK. It's also a lovely bit of kit from personal experience so I would recommend it over the top of others anyway

Ill find a link a little later (currently on the phone) as they do multiple versions of it. That way if you do want one in the future your good to go.
