Ah well - would rather everyone was safe than risk people's safety, so good call by Tim.

However, thinking about it... I don't think a text to my team mates who were camping, saying "Had a great, warm shower and room service has just been delivered" was the best move i've ever made...

TBH, when someone mentioned it was being cancelled I was rather glad, my hands were frozen just from dumping my tent in the skip. playing in that weather would have been no fun at all.

Totally. I can cope with one extreme at a time.

Wind.
Cold.
Wet.

But when you get 2 or more it becomes a real hassle. We had 2 verging on 3. Too much man, just too much.

UK camping season is end of June to start of September. Outside those months and you'll be cold, wet and cranky

Yup. And I stand by it. I'm happy enough March onwards. Although I decided not to put my tent up because I quite like it and that wind was just too much for it to deal with. Cosy car time.

This was the remains of our gazebo/BBQ area in the morning. We had it cable tied and strapped to Heras fencing, sides tied back, everything we could think of. We knew it was a long shot. The wind just chewed it up overnight. (It was only £30 to be fair).

FYI:

For those emailing and telephoning about refunds or re-schedules: our main priority at the moment is ensuring the injured guy is ok. He is seriously injured so obviously our immediate thoughts are concerning him.

We'll be back in the office mid week and we'll shake all the details out then.

We do not leave players in the lurch.........EVER! So please relax for a day or two and let us sort stuff out onsite and then we'll let you know how things are going to work.

Thank you to all those who pitched in to help over this weekend. Humbling. It's this care for others in this community which makes scenario truly great.

Was a terrible decision to have to make. A lot of work went into BoB and losses due to cancelling will be 5 figures. But, as the injury proves, it was the right decision and we would make the same decision if we had to as its a question of being professionals and putting safety above everything else.

FYI:

Personally with what is going on right now, I feel a little bit *insert negative emotion* with people asking about refunds or what is happening about paint etc...

If they didn't know, then fair enough, I guess it is understandable, but the news that the event was cancelled got around fast enough, I'm sure what happened at around lunchtime, word was spread in a similar fashion.

Put simply, Shoreline has more important things to worry about right now, the injured member of staff is in a bad way as far as I know. One of the beer tent marquees was picked up by the wind and he was hit, hard. He went down screaming and lost conciousness soon after that. I for one and I'm certain to not be alone, wish the lad a speedy recovery and hope to goodness he is okay.

It has been explained that everything else wil be looked at in due time and sales will be honoured. That is more than enough for me.

I agree. It was clearly an extreme situation. A little bit of thought wouldn't go amiss.

Not trying to suggest for one second that people aren't entitled to ask, just might have been an idea to let the flying tents hit the ground first.

Mind you I guess some of the calls would have been from people unaware at how mental it was.

Well my feet have finally dried out (although I don't think they will ever be warm).​

I have to say that I am just so amazed by everyone last night and today! ​

The amount of people that were not only willing but insistent that they wanted to help us out was very very heart warming, coming from nice warm hotel rooms to a freezing wet windy battered site instead of going straight home or crawling s​

oaking and shattered from a battered tent..... Everyone just pitched in!​

There was one point after about 3 hours working in the rain and wind this morning when I started to walk down from the field to the middle safe area, as I looked down the road there were about 40 people all walking ahead of me ready to help unload yet another lot from the vans.... It made me feel very very emotional and there must have been a sudden gust of wind as my eyes started watering!​

I would like to thank EVERYONE who helped out, I can't express enough how much we appreciated it, and to top it off you all keep laughing and joking about, the spirit of the Scenario Paintball is what makes all of this worth while.​
