PSP Race 2 vs. MS xball lite

If you have played both I'd like to hear from you. If you've only played in the MS I'm still interested in your opinion.
Here's the deal. I have a few pre-conceived ideas (not to say biases) and I'd like a few more viewpoints. There is a small (wee) possibility of playing the MS this season and I want to know more. Please let me know what you like best and least about whichever of the formats you have experience competing in. (Yes, this means you Twizz--as well as Pete and the rest of the Relentless crew. The more the merrier.) Thanks for the input.

Well, I enjoyed playing PSP alot more than Millenium, maybe cos its a change from the normal but i think alot of it comes down to the field sizes and layouts.

Hi Paul

Hope you are keeping well mate???

Well first off the entry fee, it its cheaper to enter the MS than the PSP!!!!

Reffing, well it's way more strict in the MS by far, but I think they have gone to far with that, the times I've guys run to the corner's, or dive in to the snake, get clipped on the pots, they start playing, then the refs run's over and pulls them out and gives a 1 for 1, now me being old school know that what was going on was that players were getting shot in the packs then would straight away go and run down the field and do a run through.

But instead of telling Ref's to make a call on your judgement of what you see and only pulling a 1 for 1 if they make a forward movement, they said if any players gets a hit on there packs and carries on playing (and by that I mean just shooting) 1 for 1 them.

So prepare your lads for that kind of Reffing

Next, this rule about 4 Teams playing at the same time, once the other 2 teams finish there point then your point starts in 30 seconds, well this idea seems to benefit the MS as they get finished early, even though they say it's to stop the crowd getting bored!!! come on at least make it 1 minute, you haven't got time to think straight, even when the point before you ends in say 30 seconds, they still only give you 30 seconds to get back out!!!!!!!!!!!

Locked Divisons, this really is pissing some of the Div 2 Teams off as you get pro players for the states and other ex pro's that have taken a few months out, start playing in Div 2 as thats the only Divison they can play in!!!!!!!!!! These Div 2 Teams that pay for every thing and have worked hard all season to try and get promoted, end up playing against these pro players and get knocked out!!!!!!!! all that money daown the drain

Right sorry mate, of the trail a bit here but, everyone over here would love to watch your Team play in the Millennium series, but just ask Dynasty guys about the Reffing and the turn around between points, We play in the Millennium series, and we do like if but just wish they would get the Team captains more involved in the changes of rules

These are the thoughts of mine and not my Team

Thanks Twizz & Talfryn. Much appreciated. Anybody else don't hesitate to chime in.
That's pretty much my working assumptions going in. Like you I think the reffing is probably excessive but let me ask a question. Take our hypothetical snake runner hit in the pack making his move. What if the player were to complete the run to the snake and then call a ref for a check indicating he may have been hit in the pack or somewhere else he can't observe. Does he still get the penalty?
Also, what do you think of a three match prelim? (Entries should be lower, you're playing less paintball.) It seems virtually every bracket has a position determined on the plus/minus and with only three prelim matches and a premium on not losing points I wonder if you think it tends to make teams cautious and/or slow down the play?

This year i've played in the SPL of the millenniums, for all but the last paris leg. Generally, if a player asks for the check without making any action to play on, such as shooting, they're eliminated. how ever, i have seen it where they also get the 141, which is overly harsh. when ever i've played, the reffing has been harsh, but fair. and consistently so.

If your snake guys gets in and calls and waits for a cgeck then that ia fine, but most of the pro players now where ever they get to on the break, will stand there and scream for a check first before they do anything else!!!!!!!!!! but of cause you may have a key spot and wait 30 seconds before you get checked and the shot that was there for a few seconds has gone!!!

agree with what twizz has said completely, the reffing is the major thing with being much harsher but not necessarily of a higher standard in the millennium series, having played both i would say i prefer the PSP format, mainly due to this and slightly the higher rate of fire, although iv not played in the PSP this year with the larger field dimensions.

again as twizz has said regarding calling for a check in that situation, no penalty should be assessed, however if a player is running and shooting, gets shot and continues to fire, a penalty is assessed. in paris one of our players was shot in the loader on the break running and shooting to their primary, continued to fire before sliding in and drew a penalty straight away.

some smart alec will probably say yes and this is the right call, but imagine if that was a pack shot, there is very little chance of the player in question feeling it, let alone stop shooting before getting to their primary and asking for a check.

don't know why people are complaining about the millennium reffing because its only fair that if you are shot you don't continue to affect the game whether that be by shooting or progressing up the field. unless i'm mistaken psp should actually be stricter because if you think you are hit you need to check yourself where you are standing at that time, whereas millennium allows you to move to the closest available cover.

zero twizz :D but that is beside the point because i'm just going by what the rulebooks say and what i've watched and it doesn't sound like they're going beyond that. as you's have said the mills refs are pulling 141s for continuing to move across the field with hits which is in the rules? imo that's fair but it's also for everyone else to decide what they think of that
