No worries for that. From my experience tents are quite easy to hide things in but it is difficult for crates of lager to be hidden in there. Also we can pretty much see if there are cans or paint in holdalls from their weight and noise (did we ask you to jump up and down). This method was used many, many times to turn people away and was mainly used for speed as in reality there were only two people searching over 600 people many times over. It's not fool proof but it works in many cases just as well as removing items from the bags and was only used when very busy. Trust is also a key thing and with only two people searching we have to trust that people are not hiding things deep in the innards of their bags. With regard to the gate we were there to man it when registration was open unfortunately the location of the campsite made it difficult to enforce the rules as people had open access to this all day long, even when we weren't there. If you had reported the people who had cans to a member of the event staff, they would have been asked to remove them.
