Warped Big Game was a bit like that too....a lot of wiping and overshooting.

The organization of logistics of the event were top-notch though :)

Well at least i now know that Holmbush isnt a fantastic venue....

Ive posted this on ukscenario as well, all i got back was" you should expect overshooting" also supposedly "the food was good, and what a great venue"?
I obviously went to the wrong place.
No.. I dont expect over shooting .. have some control, there were children playing at the event.. i got no problem take a few extra shots but not when your walking away after being called out then get drilled ids just wrong.. Someone even commented "thats paintball" no mate its not..

Also for £50 game fee i defintly would expect the site to have taped boundries.. how hard is that? aswell as not enough food or drinks come on..

as for stuff getting stolen thats the icing on the cake well done you theiving muppets!

I've been going to Shoreline games for a couple of years now and have never seen anything stolen before and it is early days yet. Admittedly it doesn't look good. However for Madness to say "the usual thieving" is plain wrong. I leave my wallet and phone and all my gear out all day and have never had a problem. I know a lot of people on the scenario scene and have never heard of anything going missing before at any Shoreline or Super 6 game.

The vast majority of feedback is fairly positive. Naturally people have different views and different experiences. Mine was very different to Renies for example. I have no reason to disbelieve him and as a member of GBH he will be no shrinking violet. So something must have happened to upset him.

I posted this here: http://www.ukscenario.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=24636

Have a read of that thread and you will get a more rounded view of the event.

So.....

I had a good weekend, Saturday was good crack, disco dancing was done, sausages were eaten. (Fnar).

Sunday.

Best turn out for us all year, The Boy, DBiggafigga, Simmo, DDR 400, me, Bra Newbs, Neal (Clifton), both taking pictures, and last but not least GOLD JEFF made a social call!

We started strongly taking the base down the hill from our start point before the quickest air strike i have ever seen was called in, I think it was within 30 minutes. Some confusion as to the colour we were supposed to turn the light red or blue which was more funny than anything else. Comical.

Started flagging after a couple of hours so went for a sausage sandwich (11.30, plenty left. no bacon though. hey ho.). Running out of water is definitely something that needs to be looked at.

Spent the next while trying to break out of the treeline to the fort. That was difficult as the Greens discovered in the afternoon.

The afternoon was spent picking off greens as they emerged from the bushes. It has to be said it was very difficult for people firing into the bushes to see if someones hand/marker was in the air. When i was attempting to advance through the treeline in the morning I found that a shouted "HIT!", or, "I'M OUT!" stopped the incoming fire pretty quickly.

Overshooting didn't really feature in my day and i did some stupid things, especially in the afternoon. Certainly got a bit of "aftershock" when walking away but nothing I felt was out of order. As Shadow says, Renie is a GBH veteran and they are not afraid of tough playing so I have to assume he was unlucky today as the vast majority of people i spoke to on both sides were happy with the gameplay.

As regards to the comments about wiping, there were a lot of bounces today. It was very humid. Several times I went to respawn with no hits visible when I asked to be wiped down.

The last 20 minutes were epic. I was shot out about 90 seconds from the end so watched the last bit from the sidelines, when the pyro went off I saw 200 players simultaneously duck, it was hilarious.

Well done Greens.

The marker went missing around 11:30, organisers were informed but security at the entrance gate opposite the car park weren't told until PapaG got on the radio to be on the look out til 45mins later by which time 'someone' wearing a mask carrying just two markers had already walked past them en route to the car park, ok this may have just been a coinsistance but there was no reason to be wearing a mask at that gate and only taking markers out is a little suspect.

On a general note security checks were a joke, ok there were a lot of kit going in/out but they still have a job to do, and it would be quite difficult to prove ownership either way of kit, but there were a number of 'banned' items such as beer/paint getting through quite easily.

Nialist,
it was obviously a bad day for me as you are aware im not one for bad mouthing or anything like that, and i dont tar everyone with the same brush..
I was how ever dissapointed in the setup of the venue not worth £50 in my opinon, ive been to £20 walkons that were better.
Also i might like to point out there was no random chronos, only the one when you first go on the field at the start of the game.
I personally chroned in at 260-265 fps in the morning as it always goes up once its warmed up abit, which im glad i did as when i checked again at 10:00 i was shooting 276, 278.. how many other players checked their guns??

as for theft ive never heard of this at an event ive been to before and it absolutely sucks to hear this

Unusual to hear of kit going missing at a Shoreline event (or any event these days), hopefully someone picked it up thinking it was there's and will realise the mistake when they find they have two markers.

I wouldn't write off paintball due to this one weekend, there are still alot of good events coming up and you've got to remember it's the first time these big games have all been linked so the crowds are bigger as are the trade areas and campsites. Next year will be better again now they know the issues with each game / venue. It's all one big learning curve.

Although I've not played much this year, NPF Diamond Wars has to be the event to be beaten, campsite was massive as was the trade area. Security was top notch and there were plenty of marshals who took a hard line against cheating even calling one for ones for dead men talking. They also chrono'd every gun on entry to the field via all respawn points.

Yeah, i chronoed myself at the same as you, checked it at 11 and it had jumped by around 20fps!! I mentioned it to a marshal and he said they were encouraging people to check their fps.

Anyway, I hope you don't knock it on the head, it's always good crack to play with the GBH boys.

Hi there Leighsmith
I am Dave aka Black Duke on UK Scenario.
I was responsible for trying to police the banned items list on your players pack which included both paint, beer and cider. Can you please explain to me how you thought "Security was a joke". Basic bag searches are conducted on 99% of those attending the event but obviously it is very difficult to catch all those who are intent on bringing on paint that is not bought from site or beer and cider which has not been bought from the site owner. We managed to stop about 10-15,000 paintballs on to the site and many, many cases of lager and cider. We also returned many of the items people had dropped on the road or left by their cars or the search area and had claimed had been stolen! My Medic team who are employed as First Aiders at this event helped with bag searches to make sure that during busy times you could get through the system as fast as possible. Can you please explain how we could improve on this?

Oh, regarding the person wearing the mask, I don't know who he was but the same guy came back on site about an hour later with the same 2 markers. Just so you are also aware, many people were wearing masks exiting the field as the game was being played quite close to the road. This one person was one of many, the majority had them up though by the time they got to us including this guy.

Chronod my ego most times I went past the main chrono station and it didn't move more than 5-10fps throughout the day, set it at 255-260 at half 9, it behaved the same last month at NPF.

Dave

I know how hard it is to police something on this scale, but we had neighbours in the camp sites with a 'huge' chest of alcohol, including lager and cider. We spoke to you guys and had a laugh with you on the several trips to and from the car, even though we were carrying large bags we 'could' have had paint alcohol pyro you name it in and weren't asked to open them up. Ok one was clearly a big tent, but hold-alls it would only have been reasonible to ask us (and maybe we are equally responsible as we probably should have insisted on demostrating our compliance with event rules) and anyone else for that matter to check. Late evening one of our mates inadvently drove right up to the inflatable reball set-up so the main gates was obviously unmanned and left wide open, we informed him of this error and he prompt redeposited his car to the car park.

It was always going to be a difficult job you had to do with the numbers expected, there are always people who will try it on and get stuff in they should do. I can't fault the medics they were kept busy throughout sunday, and well done for reuniting people with their lost items. I suppose the main annoyance is someone appears to have walked off site with my mates marker about midday sunday and you weren't made aware of this til it was possibly too late as I was stood next to PapaG when the radio call was put out to keep an eye out for it. So in hindsight repsonsibility for that doesn't rest with you and my original post was harsh in describing it as a joke, so for that I sincerely apologise.
