Hello Robbo
I have suffered with back pain since 2004. I suffer from upper back pain from the bottom of the shoulder blades to the bottom of the neck. The main problem is between c3-c5. They say I have narrowing spinal column were it compresses on the spine, with lumps on it (basic terms). I have been in for day surgery twice to have steroids injected near to the spine to help. I have been sent away for 2 weeks for intense physio twice and I still have the pain. If I don’t take the pain killers at night now I will wake with pain or no feelings in my hands. Last year I was on 13 tablets a day for the pain. At one point I was on 19. The physio say I have to keep moving the more I move the better I am and as my gp says I have arthritis of the spine If I stop I seize up. I have only got back to playing paintball this year ok I don’t run very fast but if you said to me you would be playing paintball in 2011 I would have laughed. I have tried everything the doctors /physio’s and consultants’ have thrown at me massage, acupuncture, hydro pools, infrared light, tens machines, mri’s x-rays even foot wear by looking at the soles of my shoes to see how they wear and how my back affecting my body, walking with a slight limp, angle to ease the pain. Some things have helped some haven’t at all.
We are all different and what will work on one many not on another. Sorry this may sound stupid as not knowing what you do as a job, do you have anything though work like an medical insurance policy, bupa to get employees back to work you could use.
I have not had full surgery I know someone who had an epidural into the spine and he said it was the worth thing he has ever felt.
Regards
Anthony
