I have finally watched the last 5 minutes and I think what Mike say is correct..... we should have fun and enjoy it.

It's funny how many people say they used more paint when playing semi, ... I don't dispute that, but I don't understand it either. :)

Growing up, using an Inferno in the woods, I could play 10 games on 750 balls, I was not 'that' tight with my paint. Some of those games would be 20+ mins long, so had plenty of game time.

These days, 750 balls will do me 5 breakout drills. I can spunk that in less than a minute. Ok, what with potting up and walking back to the gate, those 5 drills would actually take me 5 mins.

But still - 5 mins drilling vs a whole days play, ... we are just not talking about the same sport anymore, ...

Suffice to say, I agree with Mike too. :p

I guess the question is, what kind of 'semi' are we talking about ?

Are we talking about true semi - like a blowback ?

Or are we talking about uncapped semi, with a bouncing trigger and cheater board ?

If we are comparing ramping to the second option above, then yes, ramping means MORE of a fire rate restriction.

But I don't think many of the semi advocates on here are talking about a return to semi in order to shoot MORE paint.

So I think a return to semi has to be considered from a viewpoint of true semi - be it blowback only, or some form of capping on electro's that can be verified and enforced.

How feasible that is another question.

I disagree I'm afraid, i think it is the fact that people are simply unaware of the sport, of course ramping doesn't help in some cases but its only a small minority of people that would quit because they are being overshot....I think paintball DOES need to be more mainstream and as long as people are playing it (it doesn't matter how) the sport will grow...just my opinion, I'm not trying to start an argument or anything like that... thanks

ramping or semi is not the problem,it`s the rat of fire if everybody was shooting at10-12 bps
there is no problem but when you get response triggers shooting at 20+bps thats your problem especially as these guys have to use a low grade paint as their guns are harsh on paint,so thats the problem 20bps with marbles:)

can the rate in which we fire paintballs really be blamed for killing off paintball, or is it more the fact that its a bloody expensive sport to be playing during a global economic downturn.
But what makes it such an expensive sport ?

Firstly, it is the cost of £800 worth of ramping electro marker, high pressure air system and hi-tech hopper so you can compete 'like for like' against all the other machine gunners out there. Then you need to keep your new gat supplied with paint, that will cost you over £7 for every minute you spend pulling the trigger.

The question is - does it have to be such an expensive sport ?
