Ya know ,paintball players are only human beings, and theres nothing we all like better than a freebie ,maybe if we stop taking shots at the player base and ask the companies why they were so happy to give away everything at cost in the first place things might move on, the only reason players expect things cheap is because thats what they were given 10 minutes after taking up the hobby.

I have various other hobby's and all of them I pay a premium for , paintball is the only one that has ever offered me cut price 'sponsorship' whilst I was playing the lowest levels of the sport.

Ahh, the liquidity problem inherent with paintball companies run by errrr; paintballers.

Perhaps we would be better off with just Delta Force.

Yep, never notice how they're constantly pumping through hundreds of people a day and the smaller independant sites who actually offer a better service and better value struggle to get a fraction of that?

I might be a bit unclear. I was referring to the sponsorship dynamic. DF, run as a pure business where as many of the suppliers selling to teams, have to sell heavily discounted to generate liquidity / cash flow (this has always been my cheap bullets Vs sustainability argument).

I'd rather support a good independent whom offers a value for money experience. If that costs 100quid a case, happy to do this. Beats paying for tournaments and the gheylord rules (spending all day in the dead box getting pulled for barrel socks off starting gates etc etc).

If DF or other sites did this, we would see more of Boris (or his ilk), talking up Pball.

I'm heading off on a tangent methinks. I've got my Finance guys screaing at me over the phone for some capital breaches, I'm distracted.

maybe that is your perception of all supair players but it is not mine. granted there are a few cases where people expect things to be handed to them on a plate. I think u generalize the whole supair category of players into one big pile of prima donnas who think the industry owe them something. where as in reality quite a few teams get along with what they are given and dont argue and dont ask for anything free ...

.... whenever we talk about the evil, ungrateful tournament player expecting a cut price route through our beloved sport... let's spare a thought for the people who started this whole debacle ... the blithering idiot individuals in our industry who sold their souls to the devil for a knock down price .... it's all well and good keep attacking our tournament player base but buying cheap gear is a two-way deal; if the seller don't knock any price off, then the buyer can't get a cheapie .... and so if you think about it, the industry are more to blame for our predicament than the player.

Companies cut prices to boost market share or increase volumes, players can only buy cheap if it's sold cheap.

Players ain't idiots, and just because they elect to pay the cheapest price on offer doesn't constitute any reason I can think of that has them cast as the only villain in town.

I avoided responding to this when I saw the name Delta Force and thought I'd see how this goes

The article itself is excellent - a nice bit of publicity which will probably boost sales in the punter environment.
DF will get a significant part if that but I expect other sites will get some

I've never been to a DF site but they seem to me to be good at what they do
I would always recommend people go to a local site, preferably independent, especially when ticket sellers get brought up - my advice is never use a seller, if you plan on bringing a group then pick up the phone and find your local site, then get acreal deal

I feel the cost of a days paintball is quite irrelevant - if people get a good day out, pay a fair price without being messed about by ticket sellers descriptions, and play in a safe environment then it does not matter what the cost of a case of paint is

The average punter has the potential of being the future walkon / woods allergy / tourney guy if they start with a good experience

When we are walkons near the punters our responsibility is to not rub their noses in it as to how much cheaper we may be paying but to sell the differences in that we become the regular customer, bringing our own gear, and have the options of numerous styles of paintball

Articles like this (and possibly Paris Hilton in Hello - but maybe not) do the task of publicising and putting more people at the gates of the sites, with the addition on this article of showing off British business (there is still ignorance in some regular players of the significance of British design & manufacture)

So if Boris really wrote the article then well done to him, if he just let it be written in his name then still well dine

I think this is a good bit of publicity for paintball, it should get more people interested who have never heard of it, who were thinking about going or even who have been before but have now been reminded how great a day out they had playing woodsball(not at DF).
This can surely only be a good thing as it's going to generate a great deal of money and people into the sport we all love. If every person that goes to a punter day on the strength of this article gets a group of people together to take along with them then great, and if one in ten of them decides they like it enough to get their own marker and kit for walk on days, then meets a few ballers and decides to try supair then i'm all for that too.
But as said before if it was an article about supair not many would understand or be able to book a group in to try it so it might not be as good an article for our sport as a whole.
As for paint who in their right mind would turn down discounted or free paint:confused:

Just my thoughts maybe i'm wrong;)
