Tippmann Challenge UK update:

With four weeks to go, we thought it would be good to give everyone an update on the event so far.

Bookings have passed the 200 mark with a month still left to go! We've no idea what the final numbers will be, but our 500 player Staargate game doesn't usually reach this point until only a couple of weeks before hand - so early indications look good for a bumper turn out of players from all over the UK and Europe.

Online booking will only be open for another three weeks and will close at 1800hrs Sunday 22nd August 2010. Players who do not book in before then can still play the event, but they will need to 'pay on the day'. Paying on the day will be more expensive and you may not have the choice of which side you play on.

When you arrive, just present yourself at the registration desks and our staff will book you in and issue you with your USB memory scoring stick and also your event playing T-shirt. GSS will be issued a black limited edition Tippmann Challenge UK T-shirt and IMB will be issued with a green version.

Currently, both sides are pretty evenly matched.

All the Saturday activities are sorted and they will kick off at 12noon.

The Tippmann Pistol Challenge and the Tippmann Team UK Challenge will take place later in the afternoon at 1700 hrs. Spectators who do not wish to take part can watch from the seated viewing gallery overlooking the playing zones.

Throughout Saturday, the cafe and bar will be serving. Please note, intoxicated players will not be permitted to take part in the games.

RAM Training will also be running Combat Simulation demonstrations throughout the day. These will take the format of one of the military trainers picking volunteers from the crowd and running through a series of combat drills in a 'walk through talk through' style. Very interesting stuff and not something you'll get to see very often.

Throughout the Saturday, the Tippmann Gun Techs will be offering free tech support and also running a series of technical classes on the various Tippmann range of markers. A must for any Tippmann owner. The traders will also be in attendance all day Saturday and Sunday to cater for any paintball kit you may require.

As we move into the Saturday night, the DJ has been booked for the party and the rodeo paintball should be a giggle.

The camping field is prep'd and ready. The field is right alongside the car park and there will be toilets located within the camp field as well as the main staging area.

The Sunday game script has been completed, the missions and objectives planned out and the Player Pack is in the process of being written. We expect the Player Pack and game maps and objectives to be released next week on our website.

There is a danger that too much emphasis can be put on pyrotechnics in recent times to the detriment of the game itself. This event will have pant wettingly large explosions and pyro, but they will be integrated into the game itself and not just set off randomly for the sake of it. When you have to blow a bomb - you will be blowing a bomb! When you have to blow a bridge - you will be blowing a bridge! If huge explosions float your boat, then you'll love it!

We will be playing the entire site as a single zone over a continuous six hour game. The access road into the site will be blocked, meaning that you will be able to walk around the entire site without leaving the game zones. If you think of the site as a polo (mint) shaped, the hole in the middle is the staging area and the area surrounding that will be one massive game zone. So watch your back!

New paths have been cut into the boundary foliage between different game zones which should lead to some epic close quarter fighting and ample opportunity for flanking and sneaky peaky stuff.

The USB based scoring system has been tested and seems to be working well.

We are delighted to be welcoming probably the largest contingent of overseas players to a UK paintball game ever. We are sure that all of the players who will be travelling from Australia, Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain, South Africa and Poland will be made very welcome by the UK players.

Basically, everything is looking good. All the preparations are pretty much complete. We'll get the Player Packs out next week which will include maps, objectives and scoring periods meaning that the faction leaders and Generals can begin the process of formulating their plans, tactics and strategies.

Roll on Bank Holiday Weekend!

Whilst you are waiting for the Player Pack - thought I'd post up some pictures for those of you who haven't played at Holmbush before.

The site is massive, easily the biggest in the South of England with excellent staging areas, plenty of parking, toilets, on-site cafe and bar etc.

Because the site is so big, there is ample opportunity for sneaky beaky stuff and you'll not be stuck for cover.

The site is a circle with the staging area in the middle. If you imagine a polo mint, the hole is the staging/parking/camping area and the circle are all the playing fields. What this means is that you are never more than a minute walk from the staging and air refill points. But we'll also have respawn points in the field to keep the action flowing and to keep you in the game for as long as possible. We'll be playing the site as one single playing zone and as one continuous game.

The viewing gallery.
This mini football style stand is a covered and netted viewing gallery overlooking one of the main fields. This is where everyone can have a drink and if you are not taking part, watch the Tippmann Team UK Challenge and the Tippmann Pistol Challenge on the Saturday evening - cheering or boo'ing as you see fit ;-)

Seems like an ideal MG-42 firing position to me????

Looks like a nice set up and can't wait, roll on the 28th.
Just wanted to know how the paint system is going to work ?
If we got a few boxes of paint do they get left in the stageing area?
If yes will they be safe ?
Will they be kept in the shop if so will the line for paint get out of hand?
Hope someone can clear this up for me cause want to know if i should get a bigger pack so i don't have to keep going for paint if it's gonna be agg

We are delighted to announce that the Tippmann Challenge UK - Mission Improbable Player Pack is now available for download.

You can download the Player Pack from the front page of the event website:

www.tippmannchallengeuk.com

As you will see, at over 20 pages the Player Pack is fairly comprehensive. It provides information on the Saturday activities, camping, travelling to the event and general rules and regulations.

It also contains the game map, scoring times, objectives and everything else you need to start the planning process for this event.

If you have any questions, please just fire them up and we'll regularly check this forum and answer as quickly as we can.

Alternatively, drop us an email from the website or call the Shoreline office on 01970 626618

That's pretty much the final part of the preparations - everything is now ready.

We hope that you have enjoyed the build up to the game via the website, the video's and now the Player Pack. We are delighted to see all the faction threads popping up all over European forums. Now that all the hard work and preparation is complete, we can't wait to get the event on.

Cheers
Tim.

Event Update:

Booking are going well, to this point, the event is the best selling Shoreline event ever (including our 500 player Staargate game). That doesn't mean it'll necessarily be our biggest game ever as there are still two weeks to go, but ticket sales to date are very very good and above all previous curves and it looks like there will be a lot of players to shoot at.

The sides are pretty uneven at the moment and some of the factions are lagging quite far behind the others. Here are the current break downs in terms of the overall percentage of tickets sold:

IMB Elite Unit - 13%
MI6 - 17.5%
CIA - 4.7%
MOSSAD - 1.8%

IMB total = 37%

GSS Elite Unit - 8.3%
Escobar Cartel - 19.7%
Triads - 18.5%
Russian Mafia - 16.5%

GSS total = 63%

Clearly, the IMB are outnumbered 2:1 at the moment. But we're not overly worried about that, many of the teams that are playing IMB have yet to book in and we also have some tricks up our sleeves to even things up on the day which may not necessarily involve moving players. Whatever happens, come Game-On the sides will have equal chance of winning the game and nobody will be moved during the game....trust me!

Both the IMB and the GSS Elite units are limited to 30 players as advertised. If either of these go over the 30 player limit players will be moved out and into another faction on the same side.

There is two weeks left to book in. However, we would ask that loads of you not leave it to the last moment to purchase your tickets as the admin associated to processing hundreds of tickets in the last day is significant - especially with everything else that is being put into this event.

More stats and figures for you:

11% of the tickets sold so far are to brand new players - probably the highest ever. That figure is likely to be even higher given that quite a few players have purchased their first set of kit specifically for this game. This is great news for the game and a great chance for scenario paintball to show all these new guys how we go about our business. As usual, Shoreline will be taking a very clear and unambiguous stance regarding player discipline especially when it comes to overshooting and aggressive language - the game needs all these new players to come back and play future scenario events and walk-ons.

So far, we have players from:
Uk - (obviously)
France
Germany
Holland
Belgium
Spain
Poland
Norway
South Africa
Australia

These guys are all specifically travelling over to the UK for the game - it's quite amazing!

There will be guys from the USA flying in for the game, although not playing.

There will be 5 professional photographers on-site throughout the weekend.

Branewbs will have a total of three over the weekend and the Branewbs photoset can be purchased for only £3 from the registration desks. It's a ridiculous price given that the set will include hundreds and hundreds of images from the weekend. Chances are, if you are there - you'll be on it!

There will be an incredible 13.5 hours of paintball action available over the 2 days - for 45 quid!

In 6 months, I've travelled 3,211 miles between my house and the site

There will be a further update between now and the event.
