Guys, I think we need to get a handle on things here in terms of just what's happened.

An extremely small minority have stated their opinions regarding an insurance levy of 15 quid/year that was made for a few reasons not least of which is the commonsense coverage of one's well-being.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion as we have seen many times before but in this particular case the degree of variance from the masses is huge ... I would doubt these guys represent any more than 0.5 % of our player base but because of the nature of their opinion, it has made a more profound impact upon our reaction when reading them .... the nature of our reaction though, does not in any way indicate significance.

In other words, these guys who would resist the levy mean nothing, absolutely nothing in terms of representation of our player base and should be effectively ignored, it's as simple as that really.

We are all well aware of just how acute our feelings are insulted when reading suck bollox because anybody who knows Steve Bull would feel absolute outrage at the idea that man would do anything to harm, or take advantage of, our players.

These people will now fade away and I doubt we would see any of them resurface to defend their position because if they possess one iota of decency they will be ruing the fact they ever decided to make their ideas known in this thread.

Let's just all crack on and forget them and hope upon hope Steve reconsiders his decision,
I will do all I can to persuade him and may have to make him an offer he can't refuse tho I fear there ain't gonna be any spare room to fit a horse's head in any bed he's sleeping in, the man ain't small !

I do understand Steve on this,
Spending months for us, and what for a reward ? Being more than nasty to him ....
I hoppe he will change his decision, and people to do faith in the federation, as we do need one.
I've tried to help for fed things when in france back in the time, and couldn't spend hours a day for being insulted everytime as reward, I gave up quite fast ...
Whatever Steve do, we can't ignore what he did and try to did for all of us.

Edit:
I must look stupid and too rich for you, I still pay my french federation membership who cost 60€ a year, and don't do anything for me,
But I know paintball would be far from what it is without the french federation.
Aren't we supposed to love our sports ?
What's £15 when you know it help developping the sport ?

My problem with this is simply that it was added after teams have already signed up for events so they have no choice and that there's no policy document to say what the coverage is you are signing up to. I think they are both valid points and Rich has addressed the first.

Not having a dig at anyone or saying it's a scam, it's nothing to do with the UKPSF or the Federation. I'd just like to read what I'm signing upto.

I didn't pay the extra for my current policy to cover playing paintball or pay for my cover for taking photos at events without reading what I was signing up for. I know insurance is import but from experience I know reading the policy carefully is also important.

Just to answer the last post from Andygoth - the insurers have been made aware of this thread and the concerns raised

Prior to changing insurers I was supplied with numerous documents to look at so that I was assured that changing to a new insurance company didn't affect players cover and infact during negotiations they agreed to increase the cover from £50 a week to £100/week (we had to pay an increased premium but it was money well spent) They have also added other benefits to do with toes and fingers as well as the usual loss of a limb cover. They sent the summary statement in reply to my request to urgently put something in writing for the back of the address card that goes out with all memberships and to email to current members so they knew that the cover had increased and been renewed.

I have had an email today from the insurers booking a telephone conference on Thursday to discuss points raised on this thread. I am sure it will result in a fuller document being produced by the insurers and underwriters. I hope this answers your points and once I have the document it will be posted on the website

talk about a shti storm...

It looks like 2 people have an issue with this. ( if theres more im sorry i didnt read everything everyone said)

But seriously £15 - 3 packs of 20 smokes - an average night out - a large dominos and change - or some SERIOUS cover!?

I must admit there are some grey areas that need filling out. Bully hopefully you wont take once individuals tempa tantrum and tar the rest of us with the same brush.

maybe for the future member will be provided with the following.
  • terms of business of the policy
  • sched
  • cert of insurance
  • a covering letter stating who the insuring company is and who they are underwritten by

maybe something like this would back up the plastic card and faith we put in to the UKPSF membership.

im all for a program like this. The americans have it with VAPPA ( i duno if it has insurance) so why moan at £15 for some good cover?

maybe we should have something similar to the VAPPA. a UK players Data base which you need to be a member of to play any National UK domestic and this membership includes the UKPSF cover. (just an idea)

but to sum it up. Dude if you dont like the idea of it. your not being forced to pay it and no one is hold a gun to your head. if you dont like it dont pay and dont play simple!

First thing i did when getting back into it a couple of months ago was join up... but that was a personal choice i made, and had it been double, i still would have paid it.

With regards to being supplied with cert's etc... like the idea and would happily pay the extra few pounds to covers costs of paperwork etc, as judging by what i have read so far, this is done on our behalf by someone for the love of the game. Therefore, maybe putting price up a few pounds to cover documentation costs may help ? (duck....).

In relation to the cost of our sport in general.. this seems the smallest outlay that we have to contend with..(not that i dont appreciate anyone else's view).

I think it appropriate to flag up something here guys in that Asylum Killer [Glen] may well be coming under the spotlight for showing some displeasure at the proposals for insurance requirements in the CPPS.
It's important to note here [and he's a bit too humble to state as much] that when Glen refers to his 'kids' , he's not referring to his own children, he is talking about the young kids he has been looking after and nurturing through our game in the past years.

Asylum Killer has for a long time been investing his time and resources into these kids to try and give them a start in this sport of ours and when the 15 quid levy was announced, I think it hit Glen right between the eyes because it meant he was going to have to pay for them.

Of course he doesn't have to pay for anybody but as far as I know guys, he is helping these guys out and looking out for them and so maybe things ain't what they seem sometimes, leastwise it was when I went off on one with Asylum Killer.

I am damned sure AK would never question Bully or his work and maybe the reaction was caused by an initial post that probably could have been worded a little better instead of coming across a little Draconian in its message and Glen just reacted ... we've all done it I'm sure.
Anyway, I think we have all learned a lesson here, everyone of us and I hope we can all put it behind us and hope Bully reconsiders his position.

If Bully doesn't, then it means I gotta get all criminal on his ass and 'persuade' him :)

whether this is aimed my way or not i don't know but i will respond anyway. i have never questioned steve's motives or integrity and never will, and i have never said anything against paying £15 for the insurance. all i have said is i would like information and clarification on points i stated in my first post, and the chance to make insurance compulsary from the start of next season so we can renew in the off season.
i need the clarification for 2 reason's, first is that i make a point of reading all the fine print on insurance documents so i know what i am covered/not covered for. and the second reason is for my junior team, if i dont fully understand i cant explain it to my youth team, and only then does cost become an issue, when i'm talking to their parents asking them to pay extra for their kids to play paintball. you think trying to convince players to sign up is hard, try convincing parents that aint exactly convinced paintball is right for their kids. it aint easy.
