Matching your bore will increase efficiency that is a definite.

a longer barrel will help in general. barrels up to 14-16 inches have been proved to be the best for shot range and accuracy. On top of this, a longer barrel is easier to look down /sight with.

the more holes (porting) in your barrel you quieter your marker will be. however as more paint is leaving through these hole, less is pushing the paintball decreasing efficiency.

Barrel matching is not necesarry and will not have a SIGNIFICANT change to your accuracy. buying better paint on the other hand will.

it is shown through and through. a dye ultralite with poor quality paint cannot in anyways shoot more accurately than your stock barrel with tourney paint.

Finally keep in mind you proto's barrel is machined to along the lines of the highest quality. Proto is the sister company of Dye and they use the same manufacturing proccesses for their markers, leading to their barrels being of near parrellel quality.

Although yes, the machining on the SLG stock barrel is very good, i still notice a rather beneficial difference when bore matching with a un1tec kit. That is my two cents.

Looking at everything i'll probably go for a single un1tec barrel, the kit seems abit pointless. Though next time I go paintballing i'll see how much I get annoyed at distance shooting.

i've got a proto 08 slg with the standard 9inch barrel and i was wondering if its worth getting a 14inch barrel. I've been looking at the dye ultralite though it costs around £70 is wondering if thats a good buy or theres a just as good cheaper one. Also am i right in presuming that the thread type is for makeing sure it fits on the right gun if so can someone tell me its size.
un1tec barrel, inter change front tips and back. 12"-16"

ses_paintball is right. The biggest thing to affect accuracy is yourself.

If you wanted a new barrel, I would choose one barrel, and I would try to choose one where the bore size is the same all the way down the length of the barrel. So many barrels come out, and the bore is about 1inch long, then the barrel gets bigger, which is pretty pointless.

The vanguard creed comes with a superb barrel and the bore is nearly the full length of the entire barrel. Not sure what make it is though.

best thing to do mate is ask someone if u can test there barrel to see what u like best, you will always get peeps saying one particular barrel is better than another or it doesnt make a difference ,blah blah blah.
unitec barrels for me personaly are the best ive used, but id get the 3 piece kit ;) you dont want to put a .695 ball through a .685 barrel :)
does ball sizing makes a difference?? i seem to agree and so do a few thousand others :)
but its down to you and the end of the day :)
