well its obvsiously more dangerous having 4.5 k, i dont think everyone had fibre wrap bottles, so at least with 3 k everyone is covered and you can just wack the air on untill its done, and it wasnt just about sitting there and holding a lane, as like you said you ran out of paint had to tag out and lost a point so you pick your shots, like bolter i dont want to come across as agressive!!

And the fps as i said if people are running higher bps if you take an extra few it takes a bit of the sting out, especially with the newer players, and its harder to rain paint on the opposing start gate so that there players can make it out, unless your at there 30 or something!!

I have attended most of these events and each and every time they listen to the players they asked the players themselves if they wanted 300fps and they voted to keep it at 280fps, they also asked the players if 3000 psi was ok they all voted to keep it at 3000psi.

Without playing this format you will not realize just how well it all fits together and to top it all off if any issues arise they ask the players and sort it out. Where lately have you played where you can bring a grievance to the organizers and actually get listened to and something be done about it.

I agree completely with Sean Wade all paintball will eventually have to go along these lines after all we are paying to play and we should have at last some say and enjoyment from playing and not get banned for being .1 bps over what is basically a stupid limit anyway. Take away the value, the fun, the trigger time and you will eventually alienate the players and they will turn somewhere where issues are listened too and they do get value for money.

coe - you need to have some kind of limitation on how long a player can remain on the field, otherwise the format risks the stagnation of games with one team locking the field tight once they've obtained the upper hand. The obvious way to achieve this is to restrict the amount of paint that one person can fire before needing to return to the deadbox - by limiting either the amount of paint or air they are permitted to carry.

Limiting available air to 3000psi has two advantages; first it requires zero intervention or enforcement by the refs, second it reduces the risk associated with hurried air refills which are the norm in F5. If 4500psi were available, it would be necessary to either mandate the use of only 4.5k tanks, or have both 3k and 4.5k fillstations in each deadbox supervised by a ref to ensure that someone doesn't mistakenly use the wrong station when in a hurry.

It also has the side benefit of making the format cheaper to run for organisers, thus encouraging its adoption.

Having now played two events I've not yet seen anyone run out of air in a game. Our players have occassionally run out of paint (especially those who choose to carry only 3 pots), but not air. I'd agree with Bolter, if you're unable to shoot a hopper + 4 pots @ 280fps with 3k in the tank you need to look at your setup (or choice of marker).

In most games the whole discussion is irrelevant, as the majority of players are eliminated well before they run out of either paint or air! :)

The airfill restriction is a little weird esp with young kids and chicks with bewbs that need to use smaller tanks, however I do see the point for it, but perhaps needs to be tidied up a bit.
There is a big difference with someone who can hold a 90ci tank at 3k and a kid or chick who can only holds a 45ci at 3k.

I do however love this format, brings the game to one focus point which can be watched and understood by non-ballers.
In short this is what we need to get paintball out there. It will never be massive on peak TV but to have a game thats understood by whoever is watching is key to spreading
and expanding the sport. With the right backing this kind of format could really work. Scenario tactics of controlling the base with sup air surroundings, its a good mix.
I like it.

At last - paintball for spectators - not just paintballers! Couple of 'points' from a spectators point of few:

 • Make each team wear some sort of coloured tabbard. That way, people can easily identify which team is which (like every other sport out there - even cricket!)
 • Make the 'scoreboard' easily readable by the crowd. Nearly all games are watched from the sides - so a sideways-on scoreboard is a must.

Other than that - looks really interesting. Onwards and upwards...

i think this is a really good idea and will benefit the development of nationalising the sport in britain, it be alot cheaper to start off i think cause you only need a steelie really instead of purchasing a CF tank. also it really has an unwritten paint rule as u can only shoot as much as your marker can so what... average of 4 pots up from starting as low of starter markers like blow backs to SL's DM's etc..... so paint could be cheaper.

also as the pitchs are much larger cant take the stigma away of paintball being a brutal sport and could even bridge the cap of woodballers and tourney ballers MAYBE..... doubt it tho just add some leaves and stuff, seriously tho it could.

it also does make the game alot more fun as its soo end to end and the point that john made its not just a 30 second game anymore, so it could mean that if one player fails to make his primary the game just doesnt crumble it can carry on and even progress.

personally i could be someone new and succesfull THUMBS UP from me !!
