why would they refund for "an act of god"? okay it would seem like good customer relations, but if you look at the majority of other events (and the insurance companies that cover them) then there is no pay out for "acts of god".

the MS has already paid (or is contracted to pay) for the set up at their end. to refund everyone who couldn't make it would seriously dent the business and may result in a potentially massive loss. the fact that the loss could be deemed to be from "an act of god" could mean that loss of income would be uninsurable.

their best bet would be to replicate the events of post-malaga last year, with a rescheduling of the unplayed matches at future evens attended by those teams.

as an aside, the weirdest thing we're not covered for in our business insurance is "damage caused by livestock falling from altitude". i can't envisage too many instances of cows falling from planes....

they can have it in there terms and conditons not to pay ut for natural disaster but i cant see them looking that far ahead.

Dear All,

English air space restrictions are to remain in place until 01.00 tomorrow, the National Air Traffic Service said this morning.
A further review of the situation will be made at 13.30 today.
The cloud of volcanic ash continues to cover much of the UK and the eruption in Iceland continues, NATS said.

"Following a review of the latest Met Office information, NATS advises that restrictions preventing flights in English controlled airspace will remain in place until 01.00 (UK time) tomorrow, Saturday 17 April, at the earliest," a statement said.

Flights in Northern Ireland and the Western Isles of Scotland to and from Glasgow and Prestwick will continue to be allowed until 19.00 subject to individual co-ordination.

North Atlantic traffic to and from Glasgow, Prestwick and Belfast may also be allowed in this period.

From 19.00, forecasts indicate that Scottish airspace may be able to accept domestic flights within Scotland and Northern/Southern Ireland, and North Atlantic flights to/from airports in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

"We will review further Met Office information and at 13.30 we will advise further arrangements. In general, the situation is dynamic and subject to change," NATS said.

"We continue to work closely with airports, airlines, and the rest of Europe to understand and mitigate the implications of the volcanic eruption."

Just spoken to Millennium. Seems all the UK and Scandinavian teams are affected and unlikely to show. They are stiill assessing the situation and deciding on the best way forward. They seem to be thinking along the lines of making up the games at future event(s) but thats not certain. Gonna play havoc with seeding whatever happens.

Also to be honest the mill management team are all going to be on site by now and, with bad weather, they will all have their hands full just getting and keeping the event running for the teams that are there. Probably not going to have time to stop everything and get together for a long meeting about how to deal with the missing teams?

Once again as people, we are not after money back, just the games played at other events!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the Act of God card was played for them last year, so we are using it this year.

not sure how it will work for us boys in div 3 as we are commited to playing the full season but now it could be messesd up from the start, will be hard for us to reply games in a division that isnt locked

sounds like the first day is running way behind schedule!!! Probably caused by the weather and/or issues with rescheduling all of the games to take into account late and absent teams


Update(ish): No news, games are running no idea if on time.

Update(2): OK so DIV 1 games didn’t start earlier, sorry about that. Div 1 games are 5 hours late. We were supposed to play at 16:50 with Sugar daddies and 19:50 with Copenhagen Synergy. I guess this day is lost for us.

Update(3): Its now 17:20 over here in Malaga and 2nd game has started on Div 1. fields so by our calculation we wont have any games today.

I got a short report from Raffe at ground zero.

Morning brought us CPL and SPL games on the standard fields. Div 1&2’s special Millennium concept fields weren’t built. Organization said that they would be up by 12:00 and games could start 2 hours late. Our boys left from the fields at 15:30 and they had the Div 1 field almost ready. At that moment Div 2 field was filled, but laying around like 10 strippers at a playboy party, all fckd up… Teams had spent almost 6 hours at the fields, ready to play. Grim described the mood at the pits.

Our boys are now at the hotel bar, drinking their allowance (one beer). After that it’s back to the fields to see if the games have begun. There is talk that div1 games will continue on SPL/CPL fields after they’ve played their set. Only it is scheduled to be at 20:00 and the sun sets around nine. Raffe thinks that there’ll be no games here today.

Mood in our team is great according to Raffe. I think that they are used to this sh#t. They spent their day looking at the games and chilling. Ofcourse the pits are on the spectator side, so visibility is like trying to find the Charlie in the treeline. There’s no netting on the seaside, so maybe the field is now more wind resistant.

Dye did their job as always and gave us our new shirts for 2010. The new Dye blue is more like azure, but we still bleed black and blue.
