Why not have a player from north and south who feeds back to a main person sat on the borad?

You can say "well what about the midlands" well most players from the north play or train in the midlands any way so thats that covered.

Why do all threads end up in a slanging match? People have different opinions and should be allowed to express them, but don't take the moral high ground when you have a sneaky pop at someone and they respond in a manner you don't like.I personally don't think there needs to be a player rep on the board as you have already got some of the most respected players in the uk on the board,i don't think you could find a more passonate bunch of players, such as ledz and jimmy frencham, they will not sit back and watch the sport die.So lets have a bit of confidence in the guy's that have already given a lot of time and money to our beloved sport!!!!!!!

Just my opinion:D Tracy Paint.

It's not the players that instigated this thread, it was those same respected members of the board who have proposed the addition of player reps and consequently posted on here requesting nominations.

if we look at other sports dw,they do not have player reps
so i can see traceys point ,but has you said it was the feds that started the thread

so has a compromise how about putting the decisions of the meetings on the forum and let people discuss them

this way you would get a cross section of player abilities replying, but the final decision would be by the feds

people are going to say that they want to have their say,but has already been said too many cooks spoil the broth
so why do we need a players rep when most of the people on the board are players, even bully has played tournie ball:eek::D

just an idea put up the minutes of the meeting or ideas for the meeting and let all discuss.

Then why have so many people from the trade sector represented??? Surely their needs are very similar to each other and could be represented by just a couple of people. I would rather see more people representing the players at different levels as WE are the ones that know what we want from a tournament. We are the largest group here and we are the ones whose opinions and needs matter the most. If that is not the case then what is the point of the federation?

Also this is possibly not the best place to get opinions about who should be representing the players as usernames can mean nothing to some people as they won't know who they are in real life (particularly new players - and these are the ones that matter as they will replace the old timers. No offence Twizz but i don't have a clue who you are for example). There needs to be some way that players know who are representing them so that they can speak to them on here or in real life which is why people suggested having them in different geographical locations so that everyone will have a chance to talk to their representative. Or is the federation only meant for the select???
1 - Lots of the trade sector is represented as they are supporting new growth and the players, and hopefully implementing the required infrastructure to renew the "scene" for want of a better word.
Additionally, they also know what people want from events - players tell them on forums and countless other places. Also lets not forgot many of the companies employ players (Eclipse being the one I know for sure) so they have a depth of knowledge from both the corporate and customer viewpoint.

2 - There isnt really a need for multiple representatives - surely just one conduit, to present the general concensus, from whatever geography. Just ping Twizz or whomever an email / call / pm / text with your comments. He presents to the board. No need for more than one person. Its not like more people = more opinions out across in the meeting. So its redundant and like mentioned, the more voices at a table, the more chance for talking over each other / losing the bigger picture due to the "more cooks spoil the broth" philosophy. I think one active / sitting board member to convey the opinions of the unwashed masses (players) is sufficient. Id worry about some kinda nested agenda if you are saying things like "is the fed only for the select few" because if you knew or read even the basics about it, youd know that is not the case.

Moreover, whomever ends up representing the opinions of players, im sure they will make public the best way to contact them, so your point becomes even more moot.

3 - Im sure Twizz doesnt take offence, but honestly, if you dont know who he is, do yourself a favour and go read about him, his acheivements past and present, and feel better. Theres nothing wrong with uninformed people learning new things, so just cos you dont know who someone is, go enlighten yourself.

As has been proven time and time again players are useless at forming such bodies to represent themselves and therefore their best chance of having any involvement in the Federation is through a players rep.

this is why i ask,do we need a rep

when you have the likes of ledz, robbo, jimmy frensham and all the other members

who have all been or are still playing ball, between them i would have thought they would know what players want:)

What is the point of debating whether we should have player rep.
The Federation have made that decision and have requested we nominate suitable candidates.
Instead of respecting their decision, we are questioning it. Why?
