Please explain why the events and not the players let us downi somehow feel ofended by this.
am in no way saying am the worlds best paintballer. but i feel this is saying UK teams all suck.
as far as am aware we do things the same way they do in Europe (that were part of) and the USA. what lets us down is the events we have compared to what they have
What you must bear in mind is that it is only the two major US circuits that get coverage over here, and even these circuits and the teams that compete in them have seen severe cutbacks in terms of finance for the 2010 season.heres how i undertsand it.
we have poor feilds in poor locations. all i hear about is bad refs and worse prizes, we have no fan base and very little sideline support and the same "trade stands" at ever event
in the states every event is in a sweet location and in great concition. not sure on the refs but i dont see as much complaining.
theres alot more to it than that, but its a discusion and not 100% clued up on yet. i also think its not as competative over here as our top teams dont have the same financial backing the top states teams do.
well yeah i see what your saying. id love to play sum american teams. if i thought this would teach me better paintball id go. i just cant see it teaching me anything different than what you can read and learn with a local team. What you must bear in mind is that it is only the two major US circuits that get coverage over here, and even these circuits and the teams that compete in them have seen severe cutbacks in terms of finance for the 2010 season.
All the local and regional events don't get any coverage here - and these are the events the top teams scout to pick up tomorrow's superstars.
What we have in the UK is a much smaller player base, smaller events and smaller sponsorship.
However, I think that the last year has seen a resurgance in UK paintball, in terms of quality of events and players coming through the ranks.
Don't forget, the grass isn't always greener - the UK Refs are the best refs that the Yanks have seen, and an event in Vegas doesn't mean that it's on the strip - it can mean "in the desert".
