Jonathan, I am. Not UK teams, but UK players.

I understand that the information put forward by Baca is far from complete...but that didn't even elicit response like: "How much?" or "Aww, shucks. I'm supposed to take the missus to St Martin in August"...

What we got is a major "kant be bover'd".

i somehow feel ofended by this.

am in no way saying am the worlds best paintballer. but i feel this is saying UK teams all suck.
as far as am aware we do things the same way they do in Europe (that were part of) and the USA. what lets us down is the events we have compared to what they have
Please explain why the events and not the players let us down

heres how i undertsand it.

we have poor feilds in poor locations. all i hear about is bad refs and worse prizes, we have no fan base and very little sideline support and the same "trade stands" at ever event

in the states every event is in a sweet location and in great concition. not sure on the refs but i dont see as much complaining.

theres alot more to it than that, but its a discusion and not 100% clued up on yet. i also think its not as competative over here as our top teams dont have the same finacial backing the top states teams do.

I would take my team to a cliniclike this in a heartbeat if and this is a big IF, We could afford a trip to france to learn from one of the games great coaches. Attending such an event would stretch our budgets so far that it would probably mean missing an event or possibly 2 to cover it.

What you must bear in mind is that it is only the two major US circuits that get coverage over here, and even these circuits and the teams that compete in them have seen severe cutbacks in terms of finance for the 2010 season.

All the local and regional events don't get any coverage here - and these are the events the top teams scout to pick up tomorrow's superstars.

What we have in the UK is a much smaller player base, smaller events and smaller sponsorship.

However, I think that the last year has seen a resurgance in UK paintball, in terms of quality of events and players coming through the ranks.

Don't forget, the grass isn't always greener - the UK Refs are the best refs that the Yanks have seen, and an event in Vegas doesn't mean that it's on the strip - it can mean "in the desert".

i think you are all miss reading it.

I think (Sorry baca if i am wrong) that he is talking about the killer instinct not really slating us but trying to teach us how to have more aggressive play.

Yeah you might have seen the latest derder DVD or watched some yanks playing over at the MS but until you actually see a yank team play or play against them you don't realise how there play is different to ours.

I might be totally wrong in what i am saying but to be honest it sounds like a really good thing.

Baca if you read this then drop me a line at northernquarter@hotmail.co.uk we might be able to sort some thing out.

I have dynasty coming over in august so may be do some thing at the same time or maybe a different month.

God knows I could do with some training - I've been to several clinics and I still do double knee slides.

Hey Markie
While I appreciate JA trying to rally the troops in the UK I don't know that a UK location would be ideal for what is intended to be a more Eurowide draw. However, no reason we can't talk about it. ;)

As to the particulars clinics generally tend to teach players how to play which necessarily focuses on the individual and any team type function is then conveyed from the individual player perspective. But that isn't how the game is properly played. My intention is to teach teams and/or team leaders how to play an attacking style of paintball. Viewed as a team function any player of any skill level can learn how and why the attacking game works. The individuals don't even need to have a so-called killer instinct--they just need to know and understand their role and commit to executing it to the best of their ability. Knowing what to do mixed with some success breeds confidence and a desire to keep at it.

well yeah i see what your saying. id love to play sum american teams. if i thought this would teach me better paintball id go. i just cant see it teaching me anything different than what you can read and learn with a local team.

i should also add that if this was going ahead and i could get there i would attend. any training is good.
