Can anyone tell me, why, when creating even the most random of gamer tags, it tells me it exists already? Then when I go to retrieve the tag, it says it doesn't exist?? Ferked up or what...which is why, my tag, for the moment...
is ScruffyPoet....which was one of the suggested ones...I thought appropriate, as my dog is called Scruffy.

Also...how and where do I download the XBOX emulator and how do I add gamertags to my buddy list, or whatever...

The emulator is downloaded automatically when you insert a disc while online

Also you can add buddies from your recently played list or I think you can type them in
