I can't understand why any online retailer, particularly for paintball equipment wouldn't have some kind of online stock inventory status for goods. It makes everyones lives sooo much easier and cuts down on so much hassle/telephone calls/angry customers etc. When will they learn.
Exactly what I thought.

its just quantity of orders, stuff moves so quickly the employees cant keep up...
I think you've missed the point. Some companies use a computer based stock keeping system. This has a database of all their products and records how many have (as well as other info like location, or expected dates of next delivery). Everytime an item is sold, the number in the stock database is reduced.

Think tescos. Everytime your tin of beans goes 'beep' some little computer goes '1 less tin of beans in stock' Its probably also thinking that you're a cheap skate for buying value beans, but thats another matter.

What Alex was suggesting was that the website could access this database, and when stock=0, then say so on the website. It wouldn't be a question of employees keeping up.

In that case they need to state next to each item how long they expect it will take to order something in.

It's wrong to give the impression that everything on a web site is in stock if it isnt. In this day and age of internet shopping, people often order online and pay extra shipping charges to get items delivered by a certain date. The company should not accept your money if they can't follow through with your order.

I have been out of paintball for a couple of year nows, but I know some thing about working in a paintball shop. I worked for 3 years for one of the companies which has been mentioned in this thread.

Paintball is not like any other industry some of you may currently or have worked in, these people who you are aiming your criticism at work more hours in a week than anyone I know and that does not mean they are off playing or sitting in a office playing around with markers. I am not making exscuses about missing or delayed orders but if you could see the other side of the counter for just one day you can see what these girls and guys go through.
They deal with you guys and girls out there playing every weekend plus the dealers around europe, and then shipping half there shop to european events once or more times a month. Then they have to fix markers, market their products and deal with internet orders, deal with stock and then you want them at your local tourni to supply you with products and to fix you markers!! By no means this is in any order but there are many things which go into working in a paintball shop.

I suggest each of you speak to someone who works in the industry and find out their side of the story before you jump on your pcs and try to discourage people using their services.

Before you ask I am no sponsered player -

so they have to provide a service and run a business which they charge an appropriate price for yeh...just like any other business with large weekly logistical problems..... you employ someone to sort it out, sorry being in the paintball indudstry(and the problems that brings) is no excuse for shoddy service

As mentioned in my post I am not making exscusses for any one regarding late orders etc etc, if you dont get your stuff the basic answer is phone the company and cancel your order and get a refund! You would if it was anything else right? A car, TV, DVD !!!

I think 90% of the paintball retailers in the UK have been mentioned in this post, what happens if they were not there? Order your stuff from the states? So then you going to compalin that there is no one in the UK selling what you want.

Every one always says lets focus on the good stuff in paintball, promote our sport, progress and be recognised. Like they have for years but I dont think it will ever happen if the players at the start dont support every aspect of the industry. By no means this means forget about the stuff you ordered that never turned up or get ripped off but work together with your supplier other wise we will never get anywhere.
