Goose, have you seen the Warpig report on the "Beyond 2002" festival thingy? Link Here

WARPIG.com had the opportunity to speak with Kenny Bartram about his paintball playing days. He said that he once got to play with Rocky Cagnoni and some of the other Avalanche guys and was schooled in the ways of balling. His two words for paintball, in light of the fact that he regularly flies 40 feet in the air, letting go of his motorcycle, were "Crazy and insane, that's what paintball is!"

Like they say, this from a guy who does things like jump off his bike 40 feet in the air, travelling at whatever speed.

Maybe we are extreme after all :D

Yeah - maybe, but ya don't see too many overweight 40 year olds doing the street luge, or the Motorcycle aerials. :D :D

P.S. The preview is kinda cool though.

P.P.S. I hope this doesn't start a yes it is... - no it isn't... thread - wasn't the point. The point was just to show something nutz. Wonder if Niall could get the Imax people to this years Campaign??:)

True, although ignoring air resistance, an overweight 40 y/o should be better at street luge, all that potential energy. ;)

I'd love to see a similar event to Beyond 2002 run over this side of the pond, if only for a chance to see the freestyle moto-x.

Anyways, coursework beckons :(

Actually, their weight would more than make up for the air resistance disadvantage in that such would give them a better measure of control as the board is forced harder to the ground. Ooh, idea! Combine the two! Now that would take some serious skill and some interesting ideas for reffing, probably by riding in the back of a truck (lorry or whatever you people across the pond call it) with some binoculars, after taking some Dramamine of course. (Ever try looking through binoculars while riding in a car? Don't.)

***sigh***

Ok, paintball won't be an extreme sport until the possibility of bodily mutilation is possible with every play. That and not until we have cool "move names". We need to have an answer to the "Stalefish". :)

Who says that body mutilation isn't possible? Sometimes refs volunteer themselves for that with the calls they make, as is anyone I find taking my BBQ sandwich or slice of pizza while I'm off playing. YOU may not be in the condition right now to make injury-inviting moves like diving over a dorito or wingnut to mug someone, but a fair number of us are and do. (Not me as of late, but only because it hasn't come up and I need better shoes and a change of music to get pumped up to before every game...right now trying AFI which seems like it'll work.) No move names? There are some, but you don't hear many of them standardized except various moves like the Superman dive.

But they'r enot LINKED together. Superman dive to... sit and shoot. BOOOOO-RRRIIINNNNGGGGGG!!!!!

As for diving over tubes, that's not extreme. You can't DIE jumping a tube. I can die if I fall 15 feet from teh top of the lip of an average X-games halfpipe. I can die "Extreme Skiing". My only bone break in snowboarding was easily 10 times as severe as my only bone break in paintball.

And I've got the surgical scars to prove the snowboard injury.
